The House of the Dead
- HotD 2
- HotD 3
Theme Hospital
Transarctica
Total Annihilation
UFO: Enemy Unknown
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines
Wasteland/Wasteland 2
World of Goo

FAQ:

Why do you want to get Castlevania III but no Bloodlines? Why Megaman 2 and no X?
I'm simply holding out until I beat more games. If after beating Megaman 3 I still fancy more Megaman, I'll get another, no point in getting ten similar games at once!

This is why the list is so small, actually.

Didn't you love arcade games? Why aren't they listed?
As a rule of thumb, I stick to MAME for arcade games over ports unless the port is greatly improved. I haven't listed digital games.

X game isn't a port and I know you love it, so why isn't it listed?
There are many games I still don't know which version to get (Crazy Taxi or Bomberman, for example) or I haven't played to really know if I can dedicate the space to them (Ghost Trick).

Quake III on a console?!?!?! Turn your superior PC race card now!
Hey, hey, it has splitscreen and you can use a keyboard and mouse setup! Don't hurt me!

Digital games aren't listed! (So no HL2, TF2, VVVVV, Streets of Rage Remake etc)

So, what are yours? Please don't list collections in the thousand game range! And suggestions are always welcome :)

Well if the admins think it should better go in another subforum, I don't see why not.

So you wont buy new Mega Man games but you have three different versions of Rail Road Tycoon and fricking HOTD? I'm fairly sure there is a lot bigger gap between classic Mega Man and Mega Man X than there is between two arcade light gun games. I'm not that familiar with the Railroad Tycoon series but why have 3 games when business/construction and managment simulation games generally become better and better with sequels as they become larger and larger?

Any particular reason why you don't own Valve or Looking Glass Games, Deus Ex or any RPGs beyond Wasteland and Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines? If you're aiming for a small collection with only excellent games, I dont see any reason why you should own 3 different HOTD games and not own Planescape: Torment, Half Life 2 and Portal.

Why go for Dr Mario instead of the real deal? You do have a Game Boy.
You've got 3 Sonic games but you don't own Rocket Knight Adventures? 1&2 are flawless, but from a design point of view RKA>Knuckles&3 and it offers a crazy amount of variety unlike Sonic.

I don't know how long you've been collecting or what your money situation is, but the fact that your only PS1 game is a port of an Atari Jaguar game gives an impression that you are either way too critical (while simultaneously ignoring even games that are pure excellence like PS:T, CT, FFVI and SS2 :? ), or that you dislike so many game genres that it's very hard to make any recommendations.

I'm not sure if you want to limit the amount of games you have of each genre, but you could probably add more strategy and RTS games like Rome: Total War and Hearts of Iron to your collection. Warcraft 3 is a game you must own, no matter what you do.

Why do you have Quake 3 instead of the original? All the Quake fanatics seem to think that Quake 2-4 are horrible because they are so slow compared to QuakeWorld.

+1 for UFO: Enemy Unknown. It was actually voted the 2nd best game of all time in a local gaming magazine. :)

Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

That's because I have already beaten those while I have barely played Megaman 3. No point in getting more until I do.
Any particular reason why you don't own Valve
I actually own most of their games, I have only listed games with a pyshical release worth owning, so as to speak.
or Looking Glass Games, Deus Ex
I haven't really looked into them so they aren't on my list for now. I do want to play Thief.
or any RPGs beyond Wasteland and Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines?
Well, there are a couple reasons.

The first one is that most games follow the Dragon Quest template, which I don't think it's any good. Pressing A, getting more numbers, pressing A more on stuff with more numbers, heal back, and press more A. Not something I'm really interested, to be frank and it's probably no secret I find all the games following this template to be greatly flawed. I'm keeping Golden Sun and Persona title and that's enough for me.

The second is that,I don't really know much about games like Ultima, Mines of Titan or the D&D adaptations so I haven't really played any besides Wasteland and VtM, which I just recently beat. I'm wary of them, though, because I think I would rather play the actual game than a computer adaptation but I'm all ears for any RPG-like game that doesn't have any grind.

I got them for very cheap and they would probably end up here sooner or later so they overtook any other platformer. I still haven't played RKA.

Eh, kind of, kind of but the main reason is just that I don't know much about the PSX library. Sure, I don't like Symphony of the Night and I don't think Wip3out is worth playing over F-Zero GX but there are probably many good games out there.

[quot€]I'm not sure if you want to limit the amount of games you have of each genre, but you could probably add more strategy and RTS games like Rome: Total War and Hearts of Iron to your collection. Warcraft 3 is a game you must own, no matter what you do.[/quote]
Yeah, I would rather have a diverse collection. With so many strategic games and the strategy-focused boardgames I own, I don't really see much of a reason to get more unless they are extremely interesting.

I have never liked, WC3, though, I'm too much of a builder
Why do you have Quake 3 instead of the original?
I have never seen anyone say that Quake III is bad, much less slow! The reason why I'm getting it is for the splitscreen multiplayer with an actual mouse, which is very, very rare. I might get the original or 2 for single player purporses, though.

And UFO is really, really great. Even if you have to dodge a couple of glitches

Then I suggest you look into Planescape: Torment. It has a heavy emphasis on dialogue, there are no random battles and majority of gameplay time is spent in cities talking to people. The game world and characters are really unique, the game breaks many RPG conventions and a high number of RPG fans consider it to be story/writing wise the best RPG of all time (I concur).
What's the real deal?
Tetris :P

There are a lot of great games on PSX but if you wanna skip the JRPGs, I'd recommend trying out some of the following
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oddworld:_Abe%27s_Oddysee
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oddworld:_Abe%27s_Exoddus (if you like Oddysee)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N2O:_Nitrous_Oxide Tempest 2000 on LSD
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSD_%28video_game%29 LSD on LSD
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid Much less "choked" on long mandatory cutscenes and conversations where you only repeatedly press X than the following games, has a great gripping story in my opinnion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hil ... eo_game%29 One of the best horror games of all time
Resident Evil 1&2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ape_Escape ... eo_game%29 Best 3D platformer of the PS1/N64 era imo. First game (atleast the first platformer) to use both of the analog sticks for control, great soundtrack
Crash Bandicoot 1 and 3. Great 2.5D/3D platformers. 3 is a lot easier to play through.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klonoa:_Door_to_Phantomile Great 2.5D platformer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_Flash! One of the earliest PSX games and an unique 3D platformer (there's no other game that plays like it, except the sequel). Not a great game gameplay wise by any means but if you enjoy visually weird and trippy Japanese games then this polygonal early 3D game is worth owning, it's really short too.

If you like fighting games, I'd recommend Tekken 2&3 and Destrega
I have never liked, WC3, though, I'm too much of a builder
The epic storyline and all the different online game mods (DOTA, Tower Wars, Hero Line Wars etc) make it worth it even if you dislike how normal gameplay works in it compared to other similiar titles.
I have never seen anyone say that Quake III is bad, much less slow!
Well, it's the fanatics who've been playing the game for almost 15 years :P I think there are some new guns and gameplay elements in Q2 and beyond (like the railgun) which make it slower than the original. I've also read that the movement isn't as precise or something like that.
QW is insanely fast

Interesting collection. Not huge, but at the same time full of some rarities. I can see that you're definitely more of a PC guy than a console guy.

I agree that you need more SNES games, and I'd suggest stocking up on PS1 and PS2 games while they're so cheap.

Instead of posting a long list, here's a link to my Darkadia collection, which lists it all:

I'm at just over 400 games right now on various consoles, handhelds, and PC.

PS1 games (except sports games) haven't been cheap for a long time.
