XCOM: enemy unknown: where's the hype!?

I'am really surprised to see almost zero buzz about this game on here. I found one post on this game.it's coming out next week people!! anyone else excited as much as I am? reboots are scary, but the fact that firaxis is doing it plus the overall enthusiasm from the team's many previews and streams, makes me feel comfortable about.

I'm sad because it's coming out the same day as Dishonored, so I don't know when I'll get around to actually playing the game.

Yeah, I'm surprised as well, I had no idea it was releasing next week until a couple days ago (and at that point I promptly pre-ordered it).

I've got the upcoming week off, and inbetween new house/game room setup, I plan to dig deep into XCOM.

Yes! This game looks really cool. I just watched a 20 minute gameplay video this morning. I think I will play this before Dishonored, but I want to play them both.

Holy wtf, I had no idea this game was coming out anytime soon despite all the recent articles. Thought it still had a long ways off... lol, goes to show I don't keep up with gaming news that much anymore.

It was only today that I found out that this is actually a tactical, turn based RPG with base buildling mechanics. I thought the new XCOM was an FPS and stopped paying attention long ago.

yeah that's still in the works, but it's been delayed a lot now. recently there was screen shots suggesting that it may be a 3rd person shooter instead.

Have to say that I'm extremely wary. Why? Because they took time units out and you can't no longuer peek, shoot and go back to hide which was what made the original so good.

It now seems that it's going to play like a ranged version of Fire Emblem, which is fun, but far, far less interesting and I fear not as tense as FE is.

I mean, we are talking about one of the best games ever made here.
