Oh my god I am salivating over this:
A box set of the complete run of the classic 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series... all in a turtle van.
It'd be nice if the 2003 series got a box set some day.

Aw man that is nice. I have seasons 1-7 already on DVD. I should have waited.
A friend of mine made a pitch to a certain network that shows cartoons, and they ordered a pilot. Cool news.

A big part of me wants that, but another part is saying "don't you remember how campy that show was? You'll just be disappointed if you watch it again".AppleQueso wrote:Oh my god I am salivating over this:

Yeah, I mean look at Turtles Forever. They pretty much nailed the way the 80s Turtles were. I don't think I could stand them for very long - except for maybe the first couple of eps, where Bebop and Rocksteady were 'badasses'.
Re: Let's have a western animation thread
The first few seasons are great lazy afternoon watches. Yes, lots of camp, but some of the episodes are fairly clever and lots of episodes are homages to older films (Attack of the 50 foot Irma). Cheesy? Yes. Fun? Yes.

The turtle van reminded me of this Ghostbusters set.

Man do I want that badly. I was a fanatic as a kid. I still have the toys in my attic including the Firehouse and the Ecto-1.
The first few seasons of that show are pretty twisted for a kids show, loaded with nightmare fuel. It gets watered down near the end though unfortunately with Slimer taking a bigger role.
I don't really care much for the old TMNT cartoon past the first season which has significantly more action than the following ones and the Shredder is actually kind of menacing in it.

What kind of cartoon is he trying to make? Comedy or action?Luke wrote:A friend of mine made a pitch to a certain network that shows cartoons, and they ordered a pilot. Cool news.

Comedy. I'll ask him if it is okay to post some cells of his current work. It's a small world too, as my friend has a friend who is a friend of Nathan Barnatt, who also is working with said network.BoringSupreez wrote:What kind of cartoon is he trying to make?
