I'm hoping for Lemmings, Parappa and the two arcadey horror games to come up trumps tbh, but I'd not be disappointed with having to play through Puyo Puyo or Space Channel 5 again, and I guess it's an excuse to pick up other entries in the series. With October, even if I'm not a Silent Hill fan, the double bill means I'll at least get one game I want to play there.

I'm a bit sad at the loss of Bubble Bobble, which I would really like to play myself, but I'm not sure what we'd lose for it I suppose. The only real entry I'm not keen on so far is Half Life, but you couldn't win me over with any FPS really, so whatever.

Of the games, Half Life is probably the most precarious at the minute, having the least votes of the current line up. I might throw in a vote for Metal Gear 2 if iy means we can play that instead ;)

I'd like a Bubble Bobble vs Game and Watch poll.

And it sounds like we need a HL vs DE poll too...(and I actually really like the idea of ROTT, but it isn't widely ported :( )

I am not sure I understand entirely how you are arriving at your numbers either, AJ...

That's fine w/ me if it feels like there's enough want for BB.

I've heard no compelling reason why DE would be a better TR title other than "Half-Life didn't really do it for me." But like I mentioned earlier, Half-Life has more ports, seems to have more historical impact on the genre, has a TON of community mods (@Exed: as a DC fan you should be excited to look into Counter Strike, They Hunger, etc). Also it was stated earlier from a website perspective that Dave may have access to getting a HL-related guest on the RB podcast that month.

Some of them I may have misunderstood I guess. Any time anyone mentioned something was a good idea or that they had a preference for it over another option, I counted it. I tried to avoid counting people twice, but it wasn't an exact art or anything, so i could also have accidently counted twice.

Any you were particularly thinking of?

Game & Watch in particular recieved a bunch of support after Noise asked whether it was a good idea or not. I reckon it's got so many now simply because of the direct question.

Agree with Dsh, if there is some place I can vote against Game & Watch, that'd be great.

AJ's doing a great job but want to clarify (and confirm) for the group - we are combining racing and sports into one month again this year, correct? Is there any energy around maybe doing a double bill for that month with one racing game and one sports game?

for now -- right here. Are you mad as hell at G&W? Then don't take it anymore! Make a stand against G&W. Tell us how boring a month that would be!

I generally do'nt like to do a lot of double-bills. The October thing has kind of been a tradition now, as it's a fun way to work in two games from any genre really -- and I admit, is jus sort of a hokey b-movie reference...

...but as far as doing a racing AND sports game in the same month. I'd really rather not. I really like focusing on single games with the group personally. It tends to encourage folks to stick to a single game longer I think. Competition can be created in beating others' times in a racing game, or record in a sports game. I feel less of that would happen by doubling up.

Hell when we did Guardian Heroes / Gunstar Heroes I ended up beating neither because I felt like I could never decide which to focus on. Ended up feeling like I wasted $ downloading both and not beating one. BUt I digress...

If you suggest replacing Road Rash, again, make a case. I think you were pushing for Virtua Tennis? I'd be happy with that. Or I'd be happy with RR. Convince the angry mob.

I nominated Virtua Tennis in a nice elegant post, yes ;)

The Mario Tennis series was also nominated and it warmed my heart (the GBA game is a role playing / sports hybrid!) but no one else has voted nor added anything else in that genre yet.

RR is fine for a racing suggestion, I think F-Zero is cool also. From a competition standpoint, does Road Rash have the same kind of leaderboards a F-Zero game would have?

i'd like to see some more input into this month, perhaps a token final poll since we're combing two genres.

^we should just replace G&w with Virtua Tennis because fuck G&W.

Also, just for the sake of discussion -- what about Final Fight as a beat-em-up? Obviously I'm a huge TMNT fan so will be thrilled if it's that... though I've spent a lot more time playing Turtles In Time than Final Fight. And it could be argued that Final Fight is a more "important" title. I guess I'm curious if y'all have really spent a lot of time playing FF, as a big part of TR is discovering games you really haven't played much of already.

I imagine more people have played Final Fight than the TMNT brawlers. Not to mention, I feel that Turtles in Time is superior to Final Fight all around anyway.

That's the part I'm trying to figure out. Personally I played tons of TMNT when I was younger, but didn't play Final Fight until I was in my 20's I'd guess. (I was a Streets of Rage dude growing up).

This I cannot argue with. At all. But if we've all played Turtles and know it well then it would be more interesting to play a game that (A) influenced the genre prior to Turtles and (B) some of us have less or no experience with.

Input from everyone else?
