Can't get second player/Controller to work in MAME.

Post by loganm187 »

I have 2 ps3 hori arcade sticks that are both recognized by windows 7 as "ps3 controllers"and I can use one in MAMEUI32 version.147 just fine, but once I set player two controls and pick up player two controller it won't do crap. I tested it in windows and all buttons are functioning. I'm sure there is just a two player key or setting I'm missing somewhere, but I can't seem to find it for the life of me.

In the Windows Controller Menu, are both controllers plugged in at once recognized as independent units? Open both game Controller Property Panels up to verify. Press a button on one stick to confirm only one red lightup appears. Then do the same on the other stick to confirm it lights up on the other panel.

Have you tried adding the second controller thru the Mame TAB Menu in a game? Try manually entering each button or direction individually. Sometimes Mame will think both sticks are one huge controller, but will pick up each button separately if the Windows Game Controller Panel does.

wondows picks up both controllers separately and buttons work fine. MAME does not.

can you set the player 2 controls from within MAME's tab menus? If Mame recognizes inputs and sets them in that, there's no reason it shouldn't work in game.

I can only set player 2 controls using player one controller. The actual player two controller won't do anything when i try to press the button to assign which key, but on windows button check it is fine. This is driving me nuts! Do you think because windows is seeing 2 of the exact same device that mame is getting confused?
