Since I've played this game since original release, I can't remember NOT knowing how to play. I can relate my good friend's struggle with the game though. He too had not played the original, and told me that he was struggling with the bionic arm because he wanted to hold in the button instead of 'tap, tap'. Not sure if this is what you're doing, but I'm sure it'll come in time.
The challenge rooms in Rearmed should serve you well.

Thanks; the main problem I have is whenever I am falling, I fail to time the launching of my bionic arm correctly. I am almost always late, because I forget the arm needs to take a moment to get from here to there. And those freaking drop platforms in the last level. They're killing me.ZenLogikos wrote:Since I've played this game since original release, I can't remember NOT knowing how to play. I can relate my good friend's struggle with the game though. I have been getting better since I started doing the challenge rooms. I think I should have done more of them before getting too far in the game. But I was having a terrible time passing some of those. I don't know, I passed all 40 challenges in Contra 4 in two hours, but these are taking forever. Addictive, though.
I do have you beat on one challenge room! I can't remember its name.
Did you get the friendly fire option? It adds a bit more craziness to the co-op play!

Contra 4...another game I'll miss out on because of my handheld hatred. And I do love Contra...Doctor Fugue wrote:I don't know, I passed all 40 challenges in Contra 4 in two hours, but these are taking forever. Addictive, though.

Never played coop. I never have others over...so lack of online coop was a big disappointment. Perhaps when I visit my friends - but that doesn't happen often as I work nights.

Every minute that I play Bleach DS or Gunstar Super Heroes or AstroBoy or Contra 4 or any number of games, I am in agony wishing that it was on a real console. You are very strong to resist. I let go of my hate and joined the Dark Side.ZenLogikos wrote:Contra 4...another game I'll miss out on because of my handheld hatred. And I do love Contra...
Co-op works surprisingly well in this game. It is a lot of fun. Indeed, online co-op would have been incredible.ZenLogikos wrote:Never played coop. Well I've put in a couple hours and I'm very mixed. On the one hand, it absolutely oozes with everything you expect from Capcom: awesome music, real humor, distinctive style, but there are a lot of times here where I wish they would have modernized the controls just a little more than they did. I'm fine with the guy not jumping, but I'm dying entirely too often due to swing fuckups. It's getting too frustrating to continue. I also don't understand some of these control choices. Again, I'm assuming that this is how it felt on NES, but certain functions don't make sense, and I may never wrap my head around them.
