Dragon Dogma had issues, which should knock the score down a bit.

I wouldn't mind if they turned RE all-out TPS with proper mechanics. PlatinumGames would make a much better RE game than anyone in Crapcom could ever conceive..

4.5 from GS. quote]

Gamespot has always been a bit suspect for me. When everyone scored Shenmue with 10/10s, Gamespot gave it a 7.8. When everyone scored Skyward Sword with 10/10s, Gamespot gave it a 7.5. Now I know them games are flawed but for their time, they are some of the greatest experiences. I'm probably in the minority here, but I didn't care for Resident Evil until Resident Evil 4, which is one of my favourite games ever, I still play it regularly. Resident Evil 5 I enjoyed but it was more action-based than even Gears of War. It was too cartoonish with Chris punching boulders with huge muscles. But at least it was playable. I won't be playing Resident Evil 6, mainly as I only have a Wii at the moment!
Even a 7.8 for Shenmue is overly generous.
Extremely generous

Ah, the obligatory shitty turret sequence, brings back awful memories of this crap from Resident Evil 5

For someone who has written off the series, you sure are posting a lot about this newest installment.
Why do you even care what anyone thinks about a game you don't have any interest in?

Perhaps you have some suggestions.
Quake Live?
Hawken?
Alien Arena?
Left 4 Dead 2?
Tribes Ascend?
Borderlands 1 or 2?
Monday Night Combat?
E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy?

Just some potential candidates worth investigating.
L4D2 and the Borderlands games are co-op experiences. Monday Night Combat is more of a third person shooter version of DotA. Quake Live is just Quake 3 in a browser. I've only played a little of EYE, but I can't see that having the same feel as the arena shooters of old.

No need to go all Freudian on me  That said, I'm looking forward to the new DMC. Might be Capcom's smartest decision recently to outsource this particular series.

They're only professional reviews; they mean nothing!

I think it gives them a lot of personal satisfaction to tear it to pieces because it reassures them that they made the right decision by writing it off :~)

Me personally, I downloaded the demo last night and played through the Leon and Chris scenarios and didn't think it was too bad. But then again, the only Resident Evil game that I played before this was RE4 on the Wii... so I don't have a real objectional opinion of the series

Yeah I think my opinion of this is a bit skewed due to me only playing the Resident Evils prior to 4 before this one..
