alright, how's this for revision...

Jan - RPG - Baldur's Gate
Feb - Puzzle - Puyo Puyo
Mar - Platformer - Bubble Bobble
Apr - FPS - Half-Life
May - Platformer - Fantastic Dizzy
Jun - Fighting - Fatal Fury Special
Jul - Racing - Road Rash series
Aug - Beat-em-up - TMNT Turtles In Time
Sep - Text Aventure - Zork
Oct - Horror Double Feature - House of the Dead 2 / Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Nov - Rhythm - Space Channel 5
Dec - Sim - Wing Commander

...as you can see, Bubble Bobble took the place of MG2 and provides a "golden age" arcade entry. (I actually think BB is a good choice as it's actually really great as a co-op game). Wing Commander takes the place of MULE... I put the sequel down for now, though I still think we should consider playing one that has been more widely ported. As someone else mentioned earlier, I'm also of the mind that unless there's some real reason to play a sequel, then the initial game is often a great way to introduce yourself to a series. I also tentatively put Space Channel 5 as our rhythm pick as it seems the last few pages have been supporting it with no real talk of Parappa, right? As far as SC5 vs SC5 part 2, again... I think the first title makes more sense as an intro and it seems the 2nd game is a lot like the first with some upgrades, right?

I'm all for Space Channel 5 part 1.

Wait I didn't vote for Millipede, I made a joke about Millipede that apparently no one got. ;)

Also, I'd prefer to do something other than Bubble Bobble for a platformer, but the other suggestions aren't readily available on other systems AFAIK. Both Journey to Silius or Blaster Master sound better.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I dug a bit. The first Timesplitters is PS2 *only*, so that might not be a good choice. Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitters Future Perfect have PS2, Xbox, and GC ports. 2 is slightly cheaper than Future Perfect. It seems the prices are a bit more reasonable now.

I still suggest Deus Ex. I know some people might be all like *but it has RPG elements* but it also is damn easy to get nearly anywhere, a cheap download on places like GOG, and also has a PS2 port. I'm listening to a Retronauts podcast they did on it a year ago and it so makes me want to play it again.

Blaster Master is just a textbook classic platformer. It has the length, challenge, and perhaps even nostalgic factor built right in for a TR title. It should have already been included !

AHHHH now we got no more MULE. :? If we're gonna do WC I would also suggest the first one if only because you can get it on the SNES.

*facepalm* whoops, noted.

As for Noise's list, it looks pretty good so far, but I'm a little uncertain about Half Life getting the nod over Metal Gear 2 or MULE which have the same amount of votes, or Game & Watch which has more. The others seem pretty good so far, although I'm still gonna try and make my case for Parappa and Lemmings before Puyo and SC5 get too set in stone

Also, as for Wing Commander, I vote the third myself. It's on PC, 3DO and Playstation, and it's one of the best 3DO games. Plus, I already own it ;)

In that case I was looking more for down-voting, meaning I felt like MG2 had some specific talk about being one to take off -- and I hadn't really heard anyone hype up MULE. I'm still certainly open to swapping one of those back in somewhere if there's enough want from everyone.

Half-Life was chosen because Racket himself had initially come up with playing it as a TR title a year or two ago, and it ended up *almost* being on last year's calendar but losing out to Wolf3D. So it's kind of remained on the back-burner as one a lot of us have wanted to include in TR for some time now.

So far in my opinion in remains a better TR title than Deus Ex (less ports) or Timesplitters (less VG historical importance -- at least subjectively?).
or Game & Watch which has more.

haha yeah, I just kind of cringe at the idea of playing G&W games for a month... does anyone really see anything on this list that they think deserves to be on here for a month less than G&W does? I'm certainly interested in debate.

again, open for debate, though Puyo and SC5 are another pair of left-overs that a lot of people were interested in last year...

Really? There's always the Game and Watch Gallery versions if you wanted something with a little extra visual flair...

Personally I think the G&W titles are honestly great fun. Simple, but very well designed. I'd love playing those for a month.

I was thinking of the G&W Galleries... I've played all 4 and never found myself enjoying them for more than say 10 mins tops.

What does everyone else think about G&W for a month?

^I agree that the first game would make more sense. It had a lot of ports: DOS, Amiga, Amiga CD32, Sega CD, SNES, 3DO, FM Towns, Mac OS.
