Tell me the best casual games out there and don't hate

Post by chupon »

I'm researching casual games and would appreciate everyones recommendations. Can be any genre and any platform. Also - so the thread doesn't get locked - don't hate on casual.

I only actually know a few:

Peggle
Bejeweled
Angry Birds
Cut the Rope
Super Hexagon

Words with friends?
Bubble breaker?

Then there's the classics, solitaire and minesweeper. Those might be good for historical context.

Maybe even Snake?

I feel like I'm hearing a father talk to his son about the good ole days. Anyone remember the classic casual game "rodents revenge"?

This is not casual at all. That game is insanely hard!

Holy crap, I know that one! It took that screenshot to remember it though.
I can't quite place how or where I played it. I think it might have been in with 50 other shareware titles on a CD collection, or maybe even came with this "Software of the Month" club that my Mom joined once.

Anyways, I think it was fun enough. Thanks for extracting the memory from my overcrowded head.

I don't have any recommendations though.
Maybe look into video pinball games or Tempest 2000 (or clone). That always scratches my casual itch.
...just another lost soul...

If we're talking about Windows pack-in games, try some Chip's Challenge. It's an action/puzzle game that's tons of fun.

You can find free downloadable versions online and I think it was even ported to the Lynx, C64, and maybe a few other systems.

I don't see these games as in any way ""casual"

There's also Crystal Mines II on the Lynx. Supaplex is another great Dig dug clone, but it gets hard really fast and is more complicated than the original http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e8Ys1ZPVcw
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box
