If you're still looking for alternative front-ends, you can try Maximus Arcade. It isn't free, but you can download a trial good for 30 days to try it out. I tried it out and liked it quite a bit. I decided against it since I messed around with XBMC to get it to use emulators as well as play video.

I haven't used it myself, but to have a front-end use two versions of MAME, you could try Multi-MAME[/url].
