well as long as you're enjoying yourself.Pulsar_t wrote: I tried Resi 5 and it was crap, this appears to be even crappier. I am here for the spectacle.
Also, as you all know I don't put much stock into scores. But to me, a 4.5/10 or 5/10 is like saying "average game." And a 6/10 and 79/100 is like saying "above average game." So I'm not sure I'd consider it a shit-storm.

It always amuses me to read angry comments from those fanboy nutjobs. I only get upset if a score leads to a "misjudged" game selling poorly, but is this the case for a juggernaut franchise like RE? Let's face it those aren't $2 apps so people need opinions to base their purchasing judgments upon, preferably even a consensus. Back in the 90s we had plenty of demos from actual finished code and it was a convenient way to assess the quality of the game.

Re: Resident Evil 6. 6/10
MW3 is the weakest COD game this generation IMO. It isn't bad though, and I (like many others) don't really care much about perks/online play. I think that the story told across MW1-2-3 holds up pretty well as a standalone/longer FPS campaign, for example. They also look great, control well, etc.Pulsar_t wrote:Just to give it a fair shot I did try it on Windows (MW3) and it's the essentially same game from 2007, and the perks felt like a joke. I don't mind if people are having fun with annual rehashes but it's detrimental to the industry as a whole and that's what's worrying.
Joystiq 2.5/5. I am loving this shitstorm.
Anyway, why does it give you such joy to see RE6 get mediocre scores? Posting a thread about it and ragging on "teh fanbois" about their reaction puts you in exactly the same category as those you find so humorous/irritating...

I guess it is refreshing that a major game got critically panned by this many outlets.

I think most gamers ignore any game that scores below a 7, and the more casual crowd won't even look at a game that's below an 8.noiseredux wrote:well as long as you're enjoying yourself.Pulsar_t wrote: I tried Resi 5 and it was crap, this appears to be even crappier. I am here for the spectacle.

I find it interesting that IGN reviews still get attention. I kind of view them as the "special" kid in the game review community. Some of their reviews are so dumb, uninformed, and unprofessional. Their Double Dragon Neon review is a joke.

Gamefaqs critic review list for the PS3 version:
Digital Chumps ----9.2 out of 10
Game Informer ----8.75 out of 10
GameSpot -------4.5 out of 10
IGN --------------7.9 out of 10
Play UK ----------88 out of 100
Playstation Official Magazine UK -----7 out of 10
Playstation Official Magazine US------9 out of 10
----
I only see one low-ish score (4.5 from GameSpot).
edit: and, honestly, why do numbers matter at all? I hate having a score on reviews. I wish reviewers would review the game and state whether or not you should buy the game, rent it, or not play it at all.

Hmm. It got a near perfect score from Famitsu and Bloody Disgusting, so I'm still hopeful.
Sega Genesis (Model 2), Sega CD, Sega 32X, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Game Boy Family, Phillips CD-i Model 910, NES, Atari 5200, Virtual Boy, Atari Jaguar, Playstations 3-4
Re: Resident Evil 6. 6/10
Game reviews have been inflated since the first days of gaming "journalism" decades ago. It comes with the territory. I wouldn't mind a change to reflect the actual scale of the numbers, or even doing away with them completely.. I guess instant gratification wins here.

Publishers view anything below ~80 as a negative review. Example.
For questionable games like RE6 I highly support the rental model. If only digital platforms like Steam offered that option.
