I'll be playing Maniac Mansion and a Castlevania game - either Portrait of Ruin or Lords of Shadows.
I know that both of those games are different from the rest of the series, but I am wondering if either one of those is better or better suited to fall under the "horror" category?

As far as gaming is concerned, not yet. Though I did end September by watching Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Tis the season, after all.dsheinem wrote:A few hours until the "month of horror" begins
Have you decided what you want to play?

Tell me about it. I had heard that Henry was this really disturbing film and so terrifying...and then nothing. I actually got bored while watching it. Weak. Oh well, Bad Taste is next in my Netflix queue.noiseredux wrote:I watched Maniac last night. Way more F'd up than Henry.Ack wrote:As far as gaming is concerned, not yet. Oh I still really enjoy Henry. But it's no Maniac.Ack wrote: Tell me about it. I had heard that Henry was this really disturbing film and so terrifying...and then nothing. I actually got bored while watching it. Weak. Oh well, Bad Taste is next in my Netflix queue.
Bad Taste would be awesome if the vomit-drinking scene didn't make me literally gag. :\

Do we have an October horror film thread yet? My wife and I started our month of horror movies a week early, and I have a lot to write about.

that's noise's category, or else we can combine threads and I can retool the OP if he wants me to...prfsnl_gmr wrote:Do we have an October horror film thread yet? My wife and I started our month of horror movies a week early, and I have a lot to write about.

Re: Picks for MONTH OF HORROR 3: Season of the Dream Warrior
I'm not really into Horror films/games much, so I wasn't going to join in here, but I actually probably have enough stuff with horror themes to join.
I'll try to play:
Maniac Mansion (PC)
Day of the Tentacle (PC)
Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins (PSP)
Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars (Wii)
The first 3 are pretty self explanatory, but if you haven't heard of Mushroom Men, it's an action platforming game for Wii with a bit of a schlock horror aesthetic to it:

It got some decent reviews back when it came out.
I could also replay Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS), Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES) or Luigi's Mansion (GC) should I find the time, but the others are priority because I've not played them before.
