Plex Media Server

If you have a Roku device, I recommend getting the Plex Media Server (free). I just installed this for my parents and it's cool. It let you easily stream stuff from your Mac/PC to your Roku/Google TV devices. It supports other clients such as the Mac/PC/iOS/Android. The interface is easy to use and it works well.

You install the server on Mac/PC/Linux and start it up. You point it to your media folder and it catalogs it. Then on your Roku, you add the Plex channel. It will automatically find the server if it's running. Once it finds the server, it will display the media library and you then can start playing your media.

Currently I stream to my PS3 using PS3 Media Server. I used to use TVersity (I much prefered it's menu's over PS3MS however PS3MS supports more codecs and filetypes) How is this compared to the two?

Plex is awesome. I've been using it with a Mac mini for almost seven years now. Plex, a Mac mini, sabnzb, and usenet means never paying for cable or satellite again. I've been cable free for twelve years.

Yeah, it'd be nice if you can tell us if it has header spoofing, for example. (Passes a Dolby or DTS stream with a PCM header so the PS3 will pass it through to the audio receiver). This is one of the largest advantages of PS3 Media Server.

I also use PS3 media server as well love the support of multiple file formats and codecs. It works great!!

I'm a huge fan of PS3 media server. The only down fall I come up against is that it is very difficult to rewind or fast forward an HD movie over wireless.

This point alone is what made me build a dedicated HTPC. Now I'm just a big fan of HTPC. LOL.
