Dreamcast game case difference?

Post by Flodder450 »

I noticed the other day, that some of my Dreamcast games have the Dreamcast name on the front-left side, moulded into the plastic, rather then printed on, let me explain:

On this photo we have Quake III and Worms Armageddon, the logo is moulded in on the Quake III case, but printed on the Worms Armageddon case, does anyone know when they switched from one to the other? (EG: from moulded in to printed on)

Molding is cheaper than printing since that involves another step and set of machinery. That's the likely reason.

AFAIK they used both cases at the same time...

Don't think there's any consistency...

It's probably the same sort of variation as the North American cases, where some are white backed and some black. It's inconsistent.

No, they switched, I'm certain.

I remember here in the UK they began with black printed and then switched all cases to molded lettering, probably about late 2000/early 2001.

You might be right...

I have already swapped so many of my cases it's impossible to check... lol

Ah, I see now. Kind of odd they switched the design though.
