"And you, music lover"
My music tastes are extremely diverse, i like the good parts of every genre of music.
I grew up listening to a lot of sex pistols and misfits with my older brother, classic rock gems with my parents, indie rock from my sister, indie hip-hop from my brother later in life, and the various sub-genres of death metal and outlaw rock are selfinflicted :]
my question is for any of you "punkheads" lurkin around here.
Helps me find some good lesser known punk/thrash punk/hardcore punk bands?
please avoid answers of well known bands, ex- misfits, bad brains, bad religion, op ivy, sex pistols etc
also PLEASE no pop-punk

keep in mind
im not necessarily talking about contemporary bands, i mean of all time.
also i have to kindly disagree with the idea of any genre of music being dead.
There will always be groups of fans somewhere, just gota find them :]
now if your referring in a more mainstream sense i couldn't agree more.
Unfortunately it does seem true that the masses, in most cases, cling to the less worthwhile pieces of each genre.

im familiar with hatebreed
i suppose they fit the the qualifications as far as hardcore im hoping for stuff closer to a punk to hardcore crossover or something of the sort. For me hatebreed always just had more of a straight hardcore feel.
and miller thanks im slowly working my way through that list. i do know the bled and converge though. i like them both.
and i like how Since by man has a more contemporary feel but you can still hear some of the classic punk and hard rock style in it.
thanks everyone, sorry for being so picky.
also anyone got any casualties/90lb wuss style speed punk?

allyourbasearebelongtous wrote:also i really liked Cave In. Really interesting guitar style.
thanks man.
Their first full length is the one I suggested, however as they released more albums their sound went from what you hear on 'Until Your Heart Stops' to a, for lack of a better term, space sound. Lots of effects and what have you. From there they went to a more mainstream sound ala Foo Fighters. And finally their last album is, well it is more difficult to explain but it is interesting to see how they have changed their sound over the years.
Lastly, The Stooges re-release of Raw Power is great. Iggy insists that he intended to do whatever it is that people do when re-mastering and re-mixing an album but honestly, it sounds quite literally like he just made the album louder. It turned out pretty well.
