Replacement AV cables came in from the seller and unfortunately it doesn't work either (no picture/sound). :( sigh...

Figured it wouldn't. Even if the cable was crap, I'd expect at least one of the three plugs to still work so you got video or one channel of sound or the other. I still think it's the power brick that's crap.

Anyone have a NES RF adapter they would be willing to send me? I bought one from Goodwill a few days ago for $1.50 but found out the end plug was broken (the part that connects to the console.

The end looks like a A/V cable end, so I tried splicing one of those ends on to it, but no dice.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some in the BST section. Can't remember who though.

Okay, so I got the rf adapter. It's one that is just a small silver piece that has one end for coaxial, and other for the video plug to the console. Couple points:

Intellivison works/displays a picture. so at least I know that goodwill purchase was worthwhile.

Genesis 1/SMS does not work at all. So now I'm at least hoping it's the cheap (light as a feather) AC adapter I got off of Ebay. Going to track down an official one now!

Finally got around to getting a Genesis Model 1 AC adapter and it arrived today.

Tested it on the SMS and........it works! So glad I didn't waste money on the system. Didn't even think something as simple as a faulty (cheap) third party ac adapter was to blame.

Was being skeptical, but I'm happy I can check this console off as working--same with the Genesis Model 1 that I got from a Goodwill for $3. Works like a champ with the official ac adapter :P
