Yeah Simon Jeffery seems like an asshole, i have that video with the funny caption on my favorites. Instead of saying everyone is stupid for wanting a new console a decent person would say
"we appreciate all of our old fans still gaming on dreamcast but we don't plan to go back into the hardware business anymore."
He wasn't even polite about it.
"the most fanboy request"
So all dreamcast fans and shemenue fans are fanboys?
A couple fanmade dreamcast 2 commercials

The thing that crossed my mind when I saw those commercials was "Do we really want a Dreamcast 2? (of course we'd want one if Racketboy was Sega president
)"
What makes people think that if Sega releases a new console that all our dream games like Shenmue 3, Burning Rangers 2, etc. will come? I mean, look at the recent Marvel games Sega just came out with (Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk), those were god-awful. Do we want a company that publishes those games to make a game console?

Nope.

But when you have a president like this, is that not the reason they publish games like that? Think about it. What all has Sega been making lately? Titles based off old IPs like Sonic, and things like Iron Man. Why? The namebrand makes money. Yes, from time to time there will be a quality title in there, but Sega's not interested in quality. They're interested in profit. And their management reflects this.

You say that like other games companies are somehow not interested in profit.
Try leading a company based entirley on quality alone... you will get nowhere.
Even Nintendo, SNK and other "great" companies have to churn out the shite to stay afloat - bearing in mind that "quality" is a largley subjective term.
Yakuza 2, Madworld, House of the Dead Overkill all look like pretty decent titles to me.
I was just making a point about business management. And I did admit that quality titles come down the pipe from time to time. While I understand you can't run a business on quality alone, it does help a great deal to improve your standing with the market if you at least spend some time on it. But right now I feel Sega's geared more towards building back up from old losses in their console days, and they're looking at it all from strictly a monetary sense. I also think they're scared. And of the three names you mentioned, two are from older IPs, one of which was a serious profit drain on their company. It's likely they planned on regaining some profits from the film. The other is an old staple from the Saturn.
