I saw some video a while ago that said that golf IS really hugely popular in Japan, but they don't really have a whole lotta room for normal golf courses so they have driving ranges everywhere. Are you importing a bunch of golf games?

Golf is insane in Japan. Yes, tons of driving ranges here and there are lots of full courses as well (at least in the greater Tokyo area - outside of it, probably). The in-laws sometimes drive for 1~3 hours just to do a weekend at a golf course/hot springs/shopping center nearby.
I'm surprised that Tiger Woods golf games aren't more popular here; especially the swinging Wii version.

That sound a beat-em-up makes when you're punching three people at once.

I don't think I can finish Dark Souls. I'm just too impatient. So much memorization and it totally screws me over if I make a single mistake. It's satisfying when I do get through an area, but, I'm not having that much fun actually getting to that point.

Which is odd, because, normally I like challenging games.

A stitch in time saves nine big time in that game. I know that you mentioned that you're impatient, but it can be really rewarding to think ahead in that game. If you manage to form strategies and make it all the way through, you'll find that in successive playthroughs you can pretty much blaze through every area with minimal deaths.

I couldn't play Demon's Soul (XBox 360 owner, don't have a PS3 for Dark Souls) anymore because I went into it expecting a new King's Field game. Everyone kept talking about how similar it was. But it's not, like at all. I was severely disappointed and I have a feeling that most of the people saying this had never played a KF game in their life and just said it because they read it or heard it somewhere else. Before Dark Souls came out, coming across another KF fan was a very rare thing for me.

The games are highly similar. I grew up playing King's Field and was extremely satisfied and then some with Demon's Souls. So many of the trademarks are present. Isolated and dreary world, brutal punishment at every turn, bizarre and highly eccentric NPCs, obscure secrets everywhere, same basics with the combat system, emphasis on being rewarded for exploration, several nods to the King's Field series (inventory/weapons and the like), the list goes on and on.

Sure there are differences and stuff, and it's a bit more akin to Shadow Tower, but it's very clearly a successor to and evolution of King's Field. If you thought the games weren't alike at all, you may want to take a closer look, you may end up finding that you may very much enjoy it. It really is just a much more involved, extremely brutal, and 3rd person King's Field game.

Sometimes when I beat a game, I feel bad for not beating a different, possibly better one.
