Not confirmed yet by any means, but what would this do to any people considering buying the Wii-U? If you don't want to read the article, allegedly the Wii-U will be region locked.

Wii-U thoughts so far
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Yep. Read that earlier. Not surprised but still annoyed. I hope that at least Sony consoles continue to be region free. Roughly 1/3 of the games I own are imported from Japan. Nintendo doesn't want my business. At least the Wii can be soft modded to play imports. I have my doubts that the Wii-U will be as easy to crack while still being able to play online.Blu wrote:Not confirmed yet by any means, but what would this do to any people considering buying the Wii-U? I heard it's been confirmed. But did anyone expect different after the Wii and 3DS?

I don't know, I wasn't expecting for normal media after the N64 and gamecube but they FINALLY got DVDs on the Wii. ....so maybe in another 2 gens they'll start thinking logically?BoringSupreez wrote:I heard it's been confirmed. But did anyone expect different after the Wii and 3DS?
Though apparently I've read online an opinion that it might be NoE's fault for this. Because they have to translate the games into like 7+ languages but the bulk of the sales are still in English, so they need to secure the branch's sales.

Most consoles are region-locked without modding, so it's not a big deal to me.Blu wrote:Not confirmed yet by any means, but what would this do to any people considering buying the Wii-U? If you don't want to read the article, allegedly the Wii-U will be region locked.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Hey guys. New to the forum.
I'm waiting to get the Wii U. I'm definitely getting one, but I'm holding out until (hopefully) the price drops and we get a definite release date for the next Zelda installment. Mario, Pikmin and Lego titles are all tempting, but nothing makes me feel like I've gotten my money's worth than a Zelda title.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I'll be picking one up mid-2013.
Getting a Neo Geo CD and MVS-to-AES converter are more pressing matters.
Nothing at launch excites me too much, though the Mario game is probably pretty cool.
And for the record, I think the Wii game library is VASTLY superior to PS3/Xbox 360. I anticipate Wii U will have better games than whatever ends up on Xbox 73485634/PS Fore.

What makes you say that?BoneSnapDeez wrote:And for the record, I think the Wii game library is VASTLY superior to PS3/Xbox 360. I anticipate Wii U will have better games than whatever ends up on Xbox 73485634/PS Fore.
I own all 3 major consoles, and I LOVE a good Nintendo title as much as the next fan, but I also feel as though I would have missed out on some really great titles if I didn't own the other consoles.
Maybe I'm off the mark on the point your making, but since the lack of third-party titles is (supposedly) being addressed for the Wii U, I'm excited! Batman: AC Armored Edition looks really cool.
(and for the record = "Xbox 73485634/PS Fore." made me laugh =D)
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I know that the Wii's library appeals to me more than the PS3 and 360 stuff. I have 20-25 retail Wii games. I only have 2 retail PS3 games
.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Why on earth would you make getting a Neo Geo CD a priority if you can already play MVS games?BoneSnapDeez wrote:I'll be picking one up mid-2013.
