Wii-U thoughts so far
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I'm planning on getting a Wii U around Christmas time and from the titles coming out, these are ones I intend to pick up: Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros U, Black Ops 2, and Sonic and All Stars Transformed.

Yes, I remember when people were complaining that the seal of approval didn't mean anything anymore....where were these guys during the NES and N64 eras? There were many turds on those consoles (mostly cause the technolodgy that was used to develop them was still young, but still turds)BoringSupreez wrote:kingleg wrote:Now they just have to bring back that good old nintendo golden seal of approval so we don't get a wealth of shovelware like the wii did.Yes, that's why NES didn't get shovelware.

Why'd you skip SNES? It had plenty of turds too.ZeroAX wrote:Yes, I remember when people were complaining that the seal of approval didn't mean anything anymore....where were these guys during the NES and N64 eras? Yeah, but it's probably one of the consoles with the highest quality to crap ratio. Plus the broken games weren't THAT broken. Or maybe they were, I don't know, I just remember when I first discovered emulation and went through the consoles' entire software libraries (might be overstating things a bit here), I found more turds for the NES and N64 than the SNES.AppleQueso wrote: Why'd you skip SNES? SNES has Shaq Fu. N64 had Superman 64. NES had... idk there were a lot of crappy licensed titles, none in particular really stand out at the moment though.ZeroAX wrote:Yeah, but it's probably one of the consoles with the highest quality to crap ratio. It wouldn't be fair to hold something like Action 52 against the NES considering Nintendo themselves didn't actually authorize that game's release.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
It's not just about that. I mean in the NES and N64 gaming companies were still learning how to design proper 2D/3D games for consoles. Though on the NES it was mostly their endless pursuit to imitate Mario that gave us so many bad platformers. The n64's problem was the same one as the PS1 and Saturn, games from that era just haven't aged well, and were never that good to begin with. I mean I never got frustrated playing SNES games.AppleQueso wrote: SNES has Shaq Fu. N64 had Superman 64. yeah that game sucks.....but the best non-nintendo authorize release was Tetris Tengen and it was actually better than the later published Nintendo version...and it's also sad that Tengen had to "destroy" their remaining copies of the game..and now it became a collectors item.AppleQueso wrote:It wouldn't be fair to hold something like Action 52 against the NES considering Nintendo themselves didn't actually authorize that game's release.

haha. Well actually no, I haven't gotten frustrated because the games were broken, but I am sure that there were some games that were released in a buggy mess. But it felt more common (again, mostly because of the available technology) on the NES and N64
