Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Not that bad to be honest. Probably only about 25 or so games that I actually mean to play through that I haven't. About 40 on top of that were impulse buys I really had no intention of completing. Steam sales be damned!Balasubbie wrote:Massive backlog?RyaNtheSlayA wrote:On a slightly related note, I'm far more likely to sit down for four hours and beat a four hour game than I am to sit down and play four hours of a game that takes twenty to complete. It doesn't matter if it's games that I already own or have just bought to be honest. I guess I just like shorter experiences.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I find lately that I only want to play for a couple hours at a time when I'm by myself. Now if I have friends over, that's a different story. We could play for hours and I probably wouldn't notice. I guess it has something to do with the atmosphere.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Not that bad to be honest. Probably only about 25 or so games that I actually mean to play through that I haven't. I also feel more motivated to finish a game if it's shorter. I get excited when I find out a game can be completed in just under 10 hours. That's enough time that I can spread out the experience of a few play sessions, but not so long that I'll never finish it.

Maybe it's an "instant gratification" type thing?

That's how I feel as well. I often read reviews where otherwise good games are panned for not being 20+ hour bonanzas. Even good games have a hard time keeping my attention for more than 10.J T wrote:I also feel more motivated to finish a game if it's shorter. Playing Shenmue 2 last night, I got to experience the hilarity of the duck racing event. I had followed a FAQ to get to this event, because it was so obscure and well hidden that your average play-through you wouldn't see it.
Anywho, you can eventually catch your own duck, and race it.
This article and video sums it up well.

Haha. I've already racked up 17 hours in Borderlands 2.Gunstar Green wrote:That's how I feel as well. I often read reviews where otherwise good games are panned for not being 20+ hour bonanzas. I want that! Do you actually get to control the duck?Blu wrote:Playing Shenmue 2 last night, I got to experience the hilarity of the duck racing event. I had followed a FAQ to get to this event, because it was so obscure and well hidden that your average play-through you wouldn't see it.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yes you can actually control the duck! You start out pretty slow, but your duck gets faster as you race it more. Unfortunately, the game won't tell you that your duck is gaining experience...overall it's a cool feature.
