2D Potential of the N64
We all know that the Nintendo 64 was far and away the most capable machine for 3D graphics in its generation, and almost all of its library is comprised of 3D games to reflect this. But, recently I've been looking at some of the system's 2D games, like Ogre Battle 64 and Wonder Project J2, and I'm really impressed by the quality of 2D graphics the system could put out! Sure, it can't beat the Saturn, but I'd say it's at least better than what you saw on the PlayStation. What do you think?
Re: 2D Potential of the N64
Didn't the N64 have the same problem the PSX did? A lack of memory for 2D sprites?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Are you people saying the PS1 can't do 2D? When did I warp back to 1995 and why didn't I write down some lottery numbers so I could cash in?

This is actually something I think about more than I should
Lots of untapped potential in the N64, I think. Maybe? We'll never know. Kids were just too damn hungry for 3D games in 1996.

I disagree. All the power was wasted on terrible textures, IMHO.lisalover1 wrote:We all know that the Nintendo 64 was far and away the most capable machine for 3D graphics in its generation,

A better question would be if 2D games would be playable with that controller

That was the first game I had in mind when I say the name of the thread. Mischief Makers FTWwip3outguy7 wrote:SHAKE SHAKE

I'll take blurry textures over that weird pixelated warping thing that the Ps1 does with textures any day.General_Norris wrote:I disagree.
