PS3 Super Slim... disappointed?

Post by 01toubib »

http://reviews.cnet.com/consoles/sony-p ... 54667.html

No 16gb model (For North America at least)

No price difference still starts at $250 for 250gb and $300 for 300gb

No new colors (at least as of yet, they claim a white one is coming later)

New top loading thingy... looks pretty tacky.

Nothing really new to it, besides cheaper and smaller components.

Anyone as disappointed as I am? If Sony thinks this will steal some sales from Wii U, they're day dreaming, this won't even shake Xbox 360 sales.

Is your perspective of someone already owning a PS3? Why would someone replace their existing PS3 with this?

It's a cheaper (both at retail and to manufacture) and more reliable. Why wouldn't it increase sales slightly? Someone on the fence for the PS3 might take the dive now.

That's my point, wouldn't Sony want to encourage me to buy another? I mean apple comes out with a new iphone model every week and the world goes nuts. When Xbox released the new slim 360, it encouraged people to trade in there older models.

The point of a new product is to encourage people to buy it. I don't see the point of making a new PS3, if it's not better or cheaper than the out going model.

It's the same price as the out going model for the same memory. The only difference is the new one is slimmer.

I'm getting one. I like slimmer and more power efficient models.

It looks cool but I still got my original PS3 with a 500 GB hard drive so there is no need to upgrade/replace it. I may possibly consider getting it as a second unit or spare in another room in the future. 8)

I'll probably one anyway, but I can certainly agree that it's a bit goofy that the 250GB model is MORE EXPENSIVE than the current slim. Bundled game or not, that is ridiculous.

I won't bite for that launch price but I'm sure I'll own one down the road.
