Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
We're going to start seeing "The 10 Best Games of the Wii" type articles on gaming websites soon... man, I feel old.
Any guesses on how much longer each system will live after the replacement arrives? I figure the Wii will die nearly instantly like the Gamecube and N64, the 360 will go about a year, and the PS3 one or two years, depending on whether the PS4 comes next year or 2014.

Naw, there will be PS3 games in the stores still in 2019 if it's anything like PS2BoringSupreez wrote: Any guesses on how much longer each system will live after the replacement arrives? I think support for the Wii will die almost immediately, but that it'll still hang on at retail for a bit given the starting price for the Wii U. Maybe a second round of Nintendo Selects or a price drop or bundle for the holidays, but still primarily trying to sell stuf they've already released.BoringSupreez wrote: Any guesses on how much longer each system will live after the replacement arrives? The 360 and PS3, I think, have a fair shot at being kept on much longer as budget clients to their respective online networks/content. MS was pushing a lot of streaming content, particularly sports, at E3. Sony bought Gaikai to do something with, and the PS3 is a more than capable client for that.

Good thing I'm literally not aware then. hahaAppleQueso wrote:I think games like Silent Hill 2 are a lot more effective when you aren't aware of how praised, hyped, etc they are.harper wrote:I'm ready for whenever I can finally start playing Silent Hill 2.
I guess that can go for a lot of games though.
My reason for wanting to play it so badly is because I just finished the first Silent Hill a week or so ago. A game that I literally bought on a whim and went into wondering what everyone thought was so great about it, knowing literally nothing about it other than the fact that it's a "psychological horror" game. I ended up being kinda fascinated with it. It made me really want to check out the rest of the series so I just bought 2, 3, 4 and Origins (and plan to get Shattered Memories soon). Only reason I haven't started on 2 yet is because I want to wait until I have the house to myself (no distractions).

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I have a buddy who is a big fan of Silent Hill.
He has played all of them and he thinks the later ones arent as good.
He likes the original ones since they are Japanese produced. The later ones were outsourced to other companies. He says that some are better than others.
I have 1, 2 and 4 and the one for the PSP. I may have to play them.....

Think I'll go upgrade my graphics card tomorrow. Probably an AMD 7950. There are a few games that I just want to push better AA and max out at the same time. Plus at only a $50 increase I think it'd be worth it over the 7870.
Older. Not wiser.

Ah, good. If you liked 1, I'm sure you'll enjoy 2 as well.

Wow, Bonk's Adventure is really good. I sorta knew of it as the TG16's big mascot character, but I didn't really expect it to be as all around well made as it is. Bonk himself has a lot of charm and personality, and the levels are really nicely designed and have a neat sense of progression to them. Boss battles are just fantastic too.
It's got all the little things that make a great character platformer great. I'm impressed.
Everything after 4 was made by various different western teams. 4 itself was kinda an experiment and is sorta a black sheep, but it's interesting. The later games just don't quite get the feel right, I think.flojocabron wrote:I have a buddy who is a big fan of Silent Hill.

Isn't the Wii U backwards compatible with the Wii? If that's the case, then GameStop will keep Wii games around for a while.isiolia wrote:I think support for the Wii will die almost immediately, but that it'll still hang on at retail for a bit given the starting price for the Wii U. At least as long as they did for GCN. Speaking of which, GS will probably be liquidating their remaining GCN stock within the year. They'll have to give the prices some deep cuts to do it though, since alls that's left is crap.BurningDoom wrote:Isn't the Wii U backwards compatible with the Wii?
