Is there a gun thread?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Buddy of mine has a Ruger GP100. That thing is bad to the bone.

You could probably build a house using the butt of a GP100, then go and win a competition with it the next day. They might not be pretty, but man Ruger makes a tough revolver.

A friend of my father in laws gave us a .22 western styled revolver. I do not know the make and model but it cannot be modded to being fannable. It still a fun little gun for killing snakes and rats. Though after shooting his .44 revolver, well its like shooting an airgun. We are going to a gun show in December and I am hoping to pickup a semi auto Kalashnikov for the same reasons that the7k mentioned.

You can put the butt of an ar-15 against your chin, fire, and barely feel a thing. Firing my revolver feels like a mule kicking my hands.

What caliber is it? I wouldn't mind owning a .500 S&W Magnum revolver but I'm pretty sure it would be practically useless for anything but shooting a round or two every now and then :)
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Colt .38 Special. And although it is for self defense, I do like firing it once in a while just to keep some precision.

No interest in owning a gun for me. Out of curiosity, how much is the ammunition for the guns you own? $1/round?

A fifth of a dollar at Wal-Mart, around a quarter at my local shop.

Depends on the gun. Since my rifle and revolver are .22, it is like Luke said, very affordable. Like 100 rounds for $7 affordable. So if you put that into perspective. I can go and shoot cans or targets for an hour or two for $7. Now the shotgun is about a dollar round, but you wont be shooting a shotgun for an hour straight. I take that back, my 12 gauge and 20 gauge are about a dollar, the 28 gauge is less. But my 28 gauge is a hell of a gun to shoot - it kicks harder than the 12 (since it is a really old 28 vs a newer 12). And we are not going to talking about the 8 gauge, since they are no longer legal to use when duck hunting the shells are exceptionally expensive - like $10 a shell IF you can find it.

Ive not shot my 8 gauge, but I have shot a 4 gauge (Legal in the UK of all places), and its like a blunderbuss. You are shooting a cannon. If you have seen that video of the people shooting the Elephant gun and flying all over the place, well thats nothing compared to a 4 gauge shotgun.
