Saturn is definitely what id roll with if you don't mind putting some major money into it. Most of the games on it cant be played anywhere else.

Saturn: Mega man X3, Parodius
DC: Shenmue II, Rez

None of these games are exclusive to their respective consoles though...

I love my Saturn. I play it more than any of my other consoles, and that's despite the fact that i have only a handful of titles for it. You really can't go wrong with either, though.

My fanboyism side votes for the Saturn, but you'll get more good games on the Dreamcast.

I say don't limit yourself to one or the other. Make a list of what games for each system you want to get and their average price. Make your decision based around what system you want the games for more.

Also if this is a long-term investment, do some research and take into account if the prices will increase more on the saturn games you want or the Dreamcast games in the short and long run. From what I've seen, the Saturn games have gone up in price the past few years and will probably continue to do so, while the Dreamcast prices are still relatively low on most stuff (probably due to ease of piracy).

Personally, I'd get into the Saturn stuff as fast as you can before prices go up even more in the next couple years, you still have a little while before Dreamcast prices start to really go up.

Saturn games look cruder/blockier than Dreamcast, Dreamcast games look visually very nice in contrast. I'd say however game quality is better on the Saturn, so Saturn certainly gets my vote from the two; if I want great graphics i'll watch a film, if I want a proper game then I want gameplay!

If i were you get a jpn saturn and import as pal saturn games cib are major $$$ as i believe they came in flimsy cardboard cases and didnt stand the test of time. The japanese versions are often dirt cheap unless it was a schmup or a japanese exclusive platformer.

Saturn. Though it doesn't have a very strong PAL library, importing is easy, as there are no boot discs or modifaction needed. All you need is an Action Replay 4+, which also acts as a cheat device, memory storage, and RAM cart (1M and 4M). Infact, they're on the Racketboy store, so there's no excuse not to get one.

Threads like this always shock me about how ignorant people are.

ie.) "the only good game on the Saturn is NiGHTS, but the DC has the best shmups."

OP, go here: http://www.segagagadomain.com/. Read the mini-reviews of all the games. Buy a Saturn. The end.

Im surprised how cheap dreamcast games are still, excluding shmups, with such a limited run and a huge cult status one would think games would be alot higher. Even the rarest games dont often break the $50 mark and tons of awesome games to be had for under $10. At least this is the case in america i have no idea if this is the case in pal territories and who knows how long this will last so i suggest now is the time to collect dreamcast before the children of the dreamcast era get to the age of having well paying jobs.

That time has already arrived, and yet DC remains cheap. I can't explain why the Genesis and DC have stayed cheap while just about every other system from their eras have become pricier over time.
