I traded in a few of my older systems at a local game store the other day. I sold A beat-up n64 with sports games, a genesis, an xbox, a couple psp games, a Japanese neo-geo CD and games, and a game gear with TONS of games (I think it was around 120), for $560 store credit at The Exchange. Even with the quantity and quality of the game gear games I traded in (Axe battler, junction, lemmings, fantasy zone, etc.) I still think I got a good deal as far as thats concerned.
I decided to go this route because even though I could probably make more money on ebay and/or selling here, it would take much longer to get rid of all that gear, and I would lose a ton on shipping. I'm satisfied with my decision.
The problem I have now is that I don't really know what to do with $560 in store credit! First world problems FTW. I could conceivably buy a wii, ps3, and xbox 360, and 1-2 solid titles for each of them. The possibilities are endless, since I still have my psp (they wanted 40 for a slim god of war model, no thanks), and a 3ds. The Exchange also wouldn't take my N-gage QD because 'noone would buy it', meanwhile this store was able to sell a CD-i and games for $300 dollars. Whatever.
I was honestly afraid I was going to lose the receipt, so I bought two gift cards ($500 and $60). The value of them never expires, its just a matter of not losing them. I was thinking of waiting until after the holiday season and buying a black WiiU and damn near every good wii title available. What would YOU do in my situation?

If it were me I'd get those games that I thought I could never afford. Or I'd get a 3DO, Sega CD, or Atari Lynx if they were available. But that's probably not the case, is it?

They get rare stuff in often, right now they have an Odyssey 2, a sega CD, and a Microvision. They sell Jaguars and Lynxes all the time.BurningDoom wrote:If it were me I'd get those games that I thought I could never afford. Or I'd get a 3DO, Sega CD, or Atari Lynx if they were available. You can always pick up a game that will last you 60 hours for 6 bucks. I think you should go for something you normally wouldn't want to pay for. Or, if you're looking at a new console, I would wait a while. It won't be long until one or two of the new consoles come out and no one wants the old ones. The gamer in me says to get a major system rather than a novelty because the quality and variety will be so much better.

We can't really recommend stuff without knowing what you like. All I know is that the 360 isn't worth getting, lol. Disagree if you want but there's almost no games on it that you can't get on PC.

Do they have any movies like my retro store does?

In your shoes, I would pick a new system (whatever it might be) and buy it and one or two games. Then nickel and dime the rest of the $560, subsidizing your gaming for a good long while.
Since you dumped all that stuff, collecting is obviously not the goal. Blowing all that cash at once would just start a new trade pile.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
