They only made those sequels to milk all the money they could out of the art assets they had developed. I doubt those games had even 1/3rd pf FF13's budget.AppleQueso wrote: I don't know, I doubt the company that's making a second sequel to Final Fantasy XIII really looked at an idea like "Make an FF7 remake" and decided it would be a bad idea because of those reasons. Knowing Square, they probably don't think it'll sell somehow.

As we keep saying, a remake would suck anyways. Chances are Nomura who sucks is probably the only guy who was there for the original FFVII and is still around. Square Enix isn't Square Soft, so I wouldn't be surprised if most of the staff who had anything to do with FFVII aren't even around with anymore.
Granted a remake should be an easy task with all the content right there just needing a fresh coat of paint, but who are we kidding, they'd mess it up no doubt.

I have said this before in many forums around the web: in Eastern companies, you do not mess with your elder/honorable's work, period. For them, a remake is like to trying to update the works of Mozart or Beethoven for modern tastes, which is to challenge the integrity of the original artist.Xeogred wrote:As we keep saying, a remake would suck anyways. The closest example that I hope all of you can take a look is the GameCube version of MSG - MSG: Twin Snakes. Granted many Westerners will say that is the definite version of MSG, it required Hideo Kojima's approval for any changes (including the 1st person view for firing!). And like it or not, some have argue MSG:TS was not included for the MSG HD Collection, was due to it not being a Kojima original, but a "fixed" work. I definitely recommend all of you here to find a chance to know someone from outside of your nationality, just to get some perspective from the other side.
I definitely want to see FF VII get "realized" (not to use the term "remake"), since it was heavy limited by early 3D technology, and I do agree that in terms of graphics, FF VIII and IX have stood much better than VII. And I want to hear the soundtrack of FF VII with real instruments recordings, not with midi. But again, all top exec that were involved in FF VII has to be on-board for the "realization," and I don't know if they are still motivated to do one more big job.

And besides Square had no problem remaking Final Fantasy 3 and 4 now did it? I'm sorry I REALLY don't think the childish egoism of employees who wouldn't want to see their worked touched, would stop Square from remaking this game if it was an easy thing to do.

I think if that were really the situation, they'd just say so - if not to US audiences, then to Japanese, and we'd still hear about it when the interview was translated.ZeroAX wrote: And besides Square had no problem remaking Final Fantasy 3 and 4 now did it? I have seen similar arguments made about SE, but more with respect to FFXI and the near complete lack of listening to the playerbase for many years. But, that was less a matter of putting elder's work on a pedestal, and more a matter of their own work. Too used to making decisions and standing by them like they were perfect instead of incorporating user feedback.

If FF13 and 13-2 were "incorporating user feedback", I'm not sure it was the right thing to do.isiolia wrote: I have seen similar arguments made about SE, but more with respect to FFXI and the near complete lack of listening to the playerbase for many years. (I'm saying that cause they said that they made FF13 linear cause linear shooters are all ther age these days....funny, FF6 didn't have any platforming segments)
