Finally decided to get an arcade stick...

Post by RCBH928 »

Since I first saw the neo-geo in my friend's house in the early '90s I wanted an arcade stick but I never got around getting one.

I finally decided to get one, because I will wait no longer. I want one that could possibly work with both my PC and the Xbox at least, through USB or wireless. I'd love to have one with with 6 concave buttons like they used to be on the Arcades.

Can some one recommend a good arcade stick?

i really dont want to buy an arcade stick 1 for the Wii, 1 for the pc , 1 for the 360...I hope there is a good one that can be used on multipltforms.

Well, most xbox 360 sticks can be used on both pc and xbox. I was given the Hori 360 stick and it is sweet (at least when I can get my computer to recognize it playing sf4). If you want just one arcade sick with a million options for adapters get an x arcade stick.http://www.xgaming.com/
But what is the fun of just one arcade stick? The hori Soul Calibur 2 GCN (not the universal) arcade stick is sweet (not that there is really that many games for GCN where you want an arcade stick). But I like it better for Taksunok Vs Capcom better than the Wii Stick made by Mad Cats. You can always swap out the buttons for concave buttons.

You could build a custom one yourself, with the ability to make it work for both a PC and 360 @ http://www.shadaloo.eu/ - the customization is awesome and the materials are top notch.

Get a PS1/PS2 compatible Arcade stick. It has the widest range of adapter support for other systems.

I use my PS1 Blaze Twin Shock with different adapters for:

PS1
PS2
Dreamcast
Gamecube
Wii (Classic Controller games and Gamecube Port)
PC
Mac

The other route is a USB Arcade stick. A PS3 USB stick can also work in the PC and Mac, 360 USB can also work in the computer. Not sure if the two specific console USB sticks will cross interface with each other or maybe the upcoming WiiU.

@GamerMON

The X arcade seems to be the best! it has lifetime warranty, will work on anything and very reasonable price!!

I wish it had just 1 player instead of 2, this will make it bulkier and no one is going to play with me at home any way.

Do these need a special power source or would they just power themselves from the connecting cords?

@Xan_racketboy

Do I have build these on my own or do they build them for me. I love the customizations but I am not a fan of the ball-stick shape , plus at 160 euros, its a bit expensive dont u think?

@CRTGamer

seems your arcade stick is out of production if its a ps1 , probably have to get a used one?

It is no longer made, just an example. The main point is get a PS1/PS2 Arcade stick since it has the widest range of adapters for various consoles and computers.

Here's another option:

http://www.arcadeshock.com/items/qanba-professional-joysticks/list.htm

The Qanba sticks have support for PC/360/PS3 and are fairly solid, quality-wise, with good sticks/buttons.

They make a 1 player version.

They're made from kinda crummy parts, but if you really want you can swap them out later with better ones.

EDIT: well they USED to make a 1 player version... guess it's gone now
