ps3 peripherals is too much

Post by RCBH928 »

Any one think that ps3 peripherals/add-ons is getting to much?
You have the controller, the camera, the Move (which I think is 2 controllers?), and now the wonder book?

of course its nothing compared to Wii which is becoming like a joke to me(nun chuck-wiimote-wiibalance barod-classic controller(snes)-wii zapper-wii wheel-wii speak)

Why are are they doing this? I thought that add-ons were one of the main reasons for the downfall of Sega and especially the genesis .

Can some one elaborate?

Nothing new.

NES had Controller, Zapper, R.O.B., NES Advantage, NES Max controller, Power Pad, Powerglove, U-Force, etc
SNES had Controller, Super Scope, Super Advantage, the Mario Paint Mouse, etc

The Sega comparison doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The Sega CD and 32X were essentially entire new systems that required you to already own another system to use, not random controllers and stuff. Sega's downfall had nothing to do with the fact that you could get light guns and wireless 6-button controllers.

Very few PS3 games make good use the of the Move controller. The only game I keep my Move controller for is Child of Eden. I've tried a few other games too but none really worth keeping.

If you don't like the peripherals just don't buy them. Pretty simple.

Indeed. Most peristalsis are only made for maybe one or two games anyway, and even then you almost never actually need them.

Ditto the reason I have one is CoE.

May also be worth noting that CoE is the only reason I own a Kinect. It's the most immersive way to play the game. But the Move controller provides some of that immersion while being much more accurate. I find that the Kinect just randomly flips out sometimes. I've tried 2 different Kinects. Same issues.

Killzone 3, Socom 4 and Resistance 3 play amazingly well with the sharpshooter.

I'm way more pist off at nintendo. The sensor bar, wii controllers, gamecube controller, wii motion plugin, ac adapter, wires. Oh no wii U more wires. Nintendo gots to make everything wireless like ps3. ac adapter should be like ps2 easy plugged in. wii sensor bar needs to be attached to the console instead plugged in. make the wii controllers battery less.

The Wii U seems like it'll be improving things somewhat. The GamePad has a charging station (with the high end hardware), the Pro controller will have its own batteries instead of having to get plugged into a WiiMote (which is annoying as crap on the Wii).

Hard to make wireless peripherals battery-less though.

Anything that does not come with the console initially will not have as wide of range support. This is where the Wii has the advantage in the sensor control game support over the Move or Kinect. Maybe also a disadvantage though, I wish more of the Wii games had alternate Classic Controller support.

The sensor bar would not work if directly attached to the console, has to be at the screen. Smart of Nintendo making it wired, the single wire for both power and detection. I'll take a wired device over wireless any day except for maybe Gamecube Pacman Vs which really needs the Wavebird wireless controllers. I hate swapping batteries or recharging. Ever notice 3rd party replacement Wii sensor bars are wireless only? That must be a pain changing a battery to feed the hungry lights inside. Same too for controller, especially when you get into propretary rechargable batteries that eventually wear out. A trade off of tangled wires vs battery headaches.
