I know back in the day that Lack of Love was one of the few games that didn't support VGA output.
Has this changed at all in the last few years? Can it be patched to support VGA, or run with a boot disc or any of the other tricks to get VGA output?
(I'm wiring up the gaming setup in the new house, and as the TV doesn't have s-video input, hoping to skip Dreamcast composite entirely)
Dreamcast: VGA support for Lack of Love?
Re: Dreamcast: VGA support for Lack of Love?
I've never heard of patches for DC games that can fix things like that. I'd assume if it wasn't VGA compatible when it came out, it's still not VGA compatible.

This compatibility list details how to patch a game for VGA, although some (including two I want to play, Bangai-O and Lack of Love) as far as I know don't work even with the edit.

I thought you could force any game to load in VGA mode now? Possibly with a boot disc like DC-X?

I'm pretty sure a bootdisc will handle it. Though I haven't tried myself (no DC VGA box).
Tell ya what, because I'm a nice guy, if you buy me a VGA box I'll test it out for ya!

Cool, didn´t know it was possible. Have they figured out how to patch games to be 16:9 yet?driph wrote:Nemoide wrote:I've never heard of patches for DC games that can fix things like that. I'd assume if it wasn't VGA compatible when it came out, it's still not VGA compatible.

Shame Yu Suzuki´s game works is not listed as being vga patchable.
That game has:
Outrun
After Burner
Space Harrier
Hang on
Power drift
Optimizing PS2 games 480p (progressive) and 240p gsm hdtv

Another workaround would be to mod the VGA box for 15KHz support (very easy) so you could simply toggle the switch whenever you want to play a game that can't be patched, but that requires having a tv/monitor that'll support low rez (my plasma doesnt, unfortunately).
