Finished Call of Duty (original, PC) today. That was a great last mission, doing a final playthrough on all 3 major Allied sides. I loved the Russian part when they stormed the huge government building in Berlin and they raised the flag on the roof.

Watching the credits, not only did Jason Statham do the voice for Sgt. Waters on the British side (awesome), but the music was also done by Michael Giacchino! I guess he just liked doing WWII games at the time

I also got a trackball today to replace my mouse which was giving me issues in right-clicking (no good with aiming down the sights), and the difference is clear. MUCH better to have that for FPS. I was able to spin around faster and my sights stayed *up*.

Where to next? I still am working on MOH Rising Sun, and I'll probably start the expansion packs to MOHAA here on the computer soon. I'm real glad for an FPS thread here, and that many people enjoy them.

Holy shit, the HCEU grunts are evil as hell in Black Mesa. The bullsquids and vortigants were dealing much more damage than I'm used to, but at least I feel like I can react to them. The HCEU guys destroy my life in a couple seconds.

Dude, they were already insane in the original. This is scary to hear, can't wait! I'm pretty close to them.

I'm going to start working on Fallout 3 at some point this weekend. I previously went into it in to serious of a view, so it made me a bit depressed.

Which one did you get? I use trackballs at work and while playing rpgs, but have never had it work for me in a shooter.

I finished Black Mesa Source on Friday night and it was a series of ups and downs. The game was REALLY pretty, and it was Half Life all over again. But it was certain things that irked me. First off, not every jump needs to be a crouch jump. Secondly, E to get off of ladders is silly. Third and biggest, sound. The SMG sounds like it is a tincan, the soldiers sound terrible, you can hear the zombies from a mile away, through walls, etc. I got use to the load times, but initially they were pretty bad.

Now would I recommend it to people? Emphatically yes, but only after they have played HL1. It is very much like a "directors" cut done by the mod community. And that in itself is amazing.

This guy right here, the Kensington Orbit.

Got it off eBay, it was in-box and barely used. I use a laptop for most of my gaming and Internet and I have such a small space that a mouse just wasn't going to cut it anymore, and the touchpad is no good for games. This has rubber feet so it won't slip off the table, and it's much easier to move and manipulate, and it looks and feels just like a regular mouse so it's not all that much different, and I saw the difference playing Call of Duty with it right away, you can spin around much faster, and not have to worry about re-positioning the mouse on my limited surface. The only issues are that it's an older model so it's not optical (but it still will attract less dirt than a regular mouse), and there's no scrolling option, but I understand the newer Kensington models have a "scroll-ring" that is right outside the ball that you can press to scroll pages.

I actually like the depressing aspects of Fallout. It's part of the atmosphere.

Exedeyes,
I have several Logitech Trackman Marbles, which have the same footprint as what you have but have back/forward buttons on the mouse buttons. The issue Ive always had with them is no scroll wheel. And with no scroll wheel I cant play an FPS with it.

I highly recommend the Trackman Marble when you want to upgrade to an optical one, I have used one since 05ish and after a long day of work my hand does not hurt whatsoever - I also got alot better at Photoshop. Again, no scroll wheel is a pain, but I honestly dont know where they would put one - I use three fingers on the ball, and one on each button.

I was looking at those, and that Logitech looks a good choice for an optical type. I use keys for weapon selecting in my games, so that's not an issue right now. I'm getting used to this one already, it's nice not having to pick up and move the whole thing.

At the time I was on some mood altering medicine, so I'm pretty sure that had an effect on it. There was also a couple of bad things I associated with it for a while after getting it, but those have come and gone and I should be better this time around.

EDIT:Played a decent amount... its not depressing this time around, just boring. And the landscape is so drab and boring.

I've been attempting so many RPG's/shooter RPG's that I need a break. Feeling some Hack/Slash or puzzler or something.
