Most Disliked Final Fantasy Character?

Lightning is a huge turd. She's not my most hated character exactly (Hope and Vanille are so annoying I almost can't believe it) but among the lead characters Lightning is pretty bleh.

Cloud's kind of a turd too, but he had some fun moments. I always liked "Let's mosey".

Granted, I've never played FF8, but Squall comes off as a douche in Kingdom Hearts, and can't imagine that he's much different in his own game.

Vaan, didn't have to think about it for a second. Probably the worst lead character for an RPG I can think of. What irritated me the very most about him, aside from the stupid looking character design and the fact he was tacked on last minute and ruined what could have potentially been a game with a very solid story with Basch as the lead role, is that he holds absolutely zero presence and has no personality.

Overall I think the FF games have some of the better casts in RPGs generally, can't really think of any characters I fervently dislike other than Vaan (although I should mention that I've never played 13 and would probably hate just about every character but choco-fro and maybe the lancer chick). 4 and 6 have some of my all-time favorite JRPG casts. 7, I pretty much like every character but am not particularly fond of anyone but Cid. With 8, I found the cast to be pretty boring more than anything else. No one really stood out and no one irritated me.

I don't know why everyone rags on Meg so much, I really enjoyed the lesbian relationship between her and Yuna, you don't really see that kind of thing in games much.

I hated Vaan too. Why is he even there? I think about it, but I can't think of a reason. Is that kind of character design really more popular than knights who are competent at their jobs and actually wear armor on their chests? I didn't like Fran much either, but Basch was awesome and he should have been the main character.

But that's not the worst. You see stuff like that in JRPGs and you just have to shake your head at it. What I really hated was his voice.

My most hated? Easy: Snow from FFXIII. (Warning: RANT with minor spoilers (6 and 7 referenced at the bottom))

My god was this character unbearable for a good chunk of the game. Everything about him just drove me mad; from his horribly unoriginal design (Seifer merged with Zell and took steroids) to his awful...well everything. I actually cheered when Lightning punched him (three times!); I should not be cheering when a main protagonist gets the crap beaten out of them. Nothing he did made any sense for the first part of the game and considering how young Serah looked I believed he was a pedophile the first time I saw them together. Seriously, when he said "I'm here for my wife" I expected a woman at least in her twenties, not someone who looked like she was still in Junior High and the fact that he's about 3 times the size of her didn't help either. Lightning wanted to kick the crap out of him (again, I loved when she punched him) and Hope wanted to kill him (I can't blame either of them).
He kept going "Our focus is to save Cocoon!" and even the other clueless characters went "You're insane." Finally they had the good sense to ditch this dumbass and he gets himself captured and still didn't know when to just shut the hell up! Nothing about him was even TOLERABLE! I mean, I know Zell in FF8 was pretty hyper, but at Zell had some redeeming things about him (he had a good heart and wanted to protect his mom and hometown, almost to the point of sacrificing himself). This guy is like if Zell did speed and anything remotely decent about him was thrown out.

Finally in Palom Polum (big credit to Square on that reference btw) he became at least tolerable (I loved that whole section of the game btw) and he finally calmed down. But even after that he still had moments of pure stupidity since they went "Oh crap he had this epiphany but we've still got over 20 hours of game left!"

There's no justice in this series when General Leo and Aeris die and this schmuck lives to the end of his game.
