Chrono Trigger VS Final Fantasy VI

Post by legato10 »

While it is true that both titles are timeless pieces of RPG awesomeness, I can't help but to wonder which one is the superior RPG and why. What do you guys (and gals) think?

EDIT: I ask this question because I intend to put together a video regarding this subject, but instead of just simply stating my opinion, I want to get responses from other gamers.

EDIT 2: Since it has been a little over a month since I asked the question, I went ahead and accumulated the polls and anecdotal information into a quick video on this topic. Now, the polls are still running and I am still asking this question in other places so I am not by any means drawing any final conclusions from this, but I am encouraging the engagement and feedback of others.

I thank you all for your time and participation, but the question still remains debated. Which one is the superior RPG and why?

FFVI by far. No DBZ character designs helps too.

That was a plus for Chrono Trigger, dang it!

I've never played FFVI, but I love Chrono Trigger. My vote is obvious.

And why the heck isn't FFVI on DS or PSP? The SNES and GBA versions are too pricey, and I refuse to play the PS1 version with those annoying load times.

Super NES version expected auction price is around $30-35. Would the DS or PSP version to be less than this?

The GBA version is around the same Ebay price CIB.

Also, it's 800 Nintendo Points on the virtual console.

Used, yes. And even if it were cheap on SNES I'd still want a DS version, just so I can have the map screen available as I play.

I'm stuck in 2006, I can't pay $35 for a GBA game! Or even $25.

I don't like digital releases.

I've always had a hard time paying more than $20 for anything old, regardless of what it is. That's why so much of my retro collection came from thrift stores.

FF3us isn't super hard to find. Just keep your eyes peeled in your thirft store/yard sale hunts and you'll eventually run into an inexpensive copy.
