yeah microsoft was full of shit in this generation about how much you are really paying for the console.....not to mention xbox live subscription
The Wii was not exactly a non-accessorized console either. There was a lot to add on to the base price, especially with the questionable Wiimote + acccessory thing for a lot of games, and Motion+ later.

360 accessorizing was a lot more a matter of buying the "right" model from the start. Mine is an Elite (was a gift), and came with tons of cables and things. All I've bought for it after the fact is an extra controller.

TVii seems partly like what MS showed with SmartGlass, or what a tablet with an IR port can already do as a universal remote. Probably something that will be par for the course in consumer electronics, much like Netflix support has been.

I thought Nintendo was all about games, not multimedia...

I have a PC for multimedia...

I'll be picking up the Deluxe model at launch with New Super Mario Bros. U since I prefer black and I'll get more memory plus I got plenty of SD/USB external drives so space isn't an issue.

Accessory wise I will get the Wii U Pro controller assuming it's available at launch but that's probably it so about $500 including tax. I was really hoping for Pikmin 3 on launch day since that is my current favorite launch title for Wii U. I'm excited for Bayonetta 2 can't wait!! 8)

Could be out 5 years from now. So, sold for launch or sold at some point down the line?

Bayonetta 2 exclusivity+P100=in good cahoots with Platinum. And that means we should be doing good in the niche market. I also have a feeling Atlus will be ALL over this thing. And then there's Monster Hunter...

I'm way more excited than I should be. I'm not sure how good it will do, but if it can grab the audience in this first year, and grab some strong exclusives, this could go really good.

Now, put Dishonored on it. And Borderlands 2. Make it happen Reggie, because my body is ready.

At $350 ($392 once I add tax) plus $49 for the Classic Controller ($54.88 with tax), and $59.99 for the games as was announced today ($67.19 with tax) it's already over $500 with one game. That's about what I expected, but I'm just not in the position to drop that much out of the gate this time, no matter how excited/interested I am. I feel like Nintendo's got some proving to do first, so I'll wait on the sideline and see what happens this time. The vast majority of the launch window titles are just playing catch-up with what we've already seen this generation, and there's certainly nowhere near enough new/unique titles that take advantage of this new hardware.

I've got plenty of Wii/3DS backlog anyway, I'm in no rush.

Am I the only one who realizes the classic controller is optional, especially since you can use the existing Wii classic controller?
