I'm pumped. The Nintendo TVii is so ludicrously great because of it's simplicity. The Wii U doesn't actually have any TV decoding ability or any TV watching ability. It uses a combination of configurations from TV providers and the IR capabilities of the GamePad to act as a sort of translation device.

Basically, it looks like it'll get your TV listings and stuff like that (maybe even what's on your DVR) over the network, then it will control all your devices through a universal remote like ability.

It's pretty straight forward and so simple.

It looks like the Deluxe comes with 32GB flash memory built in ... but still has a SDHD slot, so it could go up to another 32GB ... and then there's no limit on external HDD space. Their explanation is actually a fairly good one ... the consumer buying hard drives at their own pace will be a significantly cheaper option for both Nintendo and their customers. If it's a year or so before you need more storage, and it costs $40 or something, that's not that bad ... and it's certainly better than taking on an extra $40-$60 on the launch price and scaring people off entirely.

It's very apparent that Nintendo is making one of their most expensive pieces of hardware here. The semi-stripped down approach of the Deluxe and the massively stripped down approach of the Basic are evidence of that.

But it is nice they tossed in an HDMI cable ... even if they're only $6.

I wonder when they secured Bayonetta. I'm sure it would have helped develop a better image for the console with hardcore gamers at E3. Here's hoping for more gems . Also, 3D Mario and Mario Kart please

I have stayed completely clear of the XBox 360 because of all the proprietary stuff (HDD, headsets, wifi dongles, ect). When I wanted an HD system I bought a PS3, even though the 360 has more exclusives I want to play.

yeah microsoft was full of shit in this generation about how much you are really paying for the console.....not to mention xbox live subscription

Simplicity? I think that this is about 100000X simpler and works like a fucking charm right out of the box:



If I really want to set my DVR to record using a screen interface I can use either my PC, iPad, or phone to do it all remotely. If I'm in the same room as the TV, I'll just use the remote. TVii is gimmicky nonsense, even for Nintendo.
