I don't know how it could have been less. It's a new system and they've never sold them cheaper than 25,000 yen from the start. What did the Wii retail for in Europe at launch? Straight across probably.
Yeah they should sell GamePad like that. The Wii Play games were fun for a day or two - I still like the tank one.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Well it could have sold for less cause the hardware doesn't cost so much. Unfortunately the Wii U doesn't seem to have that huge system seller that Wii Sports was, so it can't afford to not get a big install base before the new consoles hit. That's why I thought it should sell for a bit less (200€/$ for the base model).D.D.D. wrote:I don't know how it could have been less. Anyway let's wait and see, the European Nintendo direct starts in an hour.

Price isn't a big concern to me but the fact that the premium is black only and the standard is white only is disappointing.
We'll see what the US annoncements bring. I want a white premium model.

$299. Not bad considering the hardware.
Sick of Nintendoland though. Instead of a Metroid park in Nintendoland, how about a new Metroid game.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Damn it, ofcourse the US release would be November 18th... and at $300 and $350
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I really think this is a bit overpriced...it will be interesting to see how well it moves.
If Sony is smart they'll offer a Vita/PS3 combo with some pack in games for $400 and MS will offer a 360/Kinect bundle with pack-in games for $250 (they currently have one at $300). Either would cut into sales of the the 2 Wii-U options.
I have spent a few hours playing Wii U now and frankly can't get really interested in paying these prices for it at launch. It FEELS cheap to me, and at this point I don't think there will be enough first-party titles or exclusives at launch to make me want the system. If it were $200 or even $250 I think it would be more of an impulse buy...but knowing I'd have to pay $400-$450+ to play yet another new Mario Bros game on a system with a reasonable hard drive (8GB is a joke) on launch day? No thanks...

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
dsh you can probably answer this for me. Are games typically running at 1920x1080 or is it still 720p or less?

From what I've seen 720p is the most common resolution on a Wii U game.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:dsh you can probably answer this for me. Are games typically running at 1920x1080 or is it still 720p or less?

Well, that kills a lot of my interest right there. I was hoping for at least a minor upgrade. It really isn't difficult to produce hardware that will run all current stuff in 1080p.dsheinem wrote:From what I've seen 720p is the most common resolution on a Wii U game.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:dsh you can probably answer this for me. That new controller be damned!
Sounds a bit graphic whorish but for $350 they really aren't making it easy for me to make an excuse to buy it. Lego City isn't enough.
