Have you--have you not played GX? 'Cause I think you really might want to do so.

Resident Evil 4. This game just gives and gives. I completed it multiple times on the Gamecube and have nearly completed it again on the Wii. I'm hoping the bonus material is worthwhile, but if not, I could spend hours playing through with the special weapons. Doing a run through using just the Rocket Launcher is hilarious.

Golden Axe. Even though you can defeat every enemy easily by just running and headbutting with the little fella, I never tire of playing this game. I think it benefits from being one of the "complete in 30 minutes" games, like Streets of Rage.

Splinter Cell: Conviction. I don't think this game gets enough praise. There is just so much to do, and so many ways to play it. The Hunter mode is endless fun in online co-op and the way the game controls is just perfect. As far as stealth games go, nothing compares. Although I haven't played Chaos Theory in a few years, so I need to compare them.

Football Manager. Anyone that has played it will understand. Although I prefer the PS2 iterations of Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven, as you can build teams AND play the games. I used to love starting in the lower division on PES6, splash ALL my funds on one good player (usually a striker) and spend the season getting the ball to him for each goal. It's effectively like an RPG in that you build a team, only you get to play too. One day, they will combine Football Manager with a FIFA/PES and my life will be complete. I'm intrigued by Inazuma Eleven, has anybody played that and is it a proper football RPG or just Pokemon with footballers.

Shenmue. I know it isn't great to play, but it just brings back childhood memories and endless hours on slot machines and the darts board trying to win toys. I just wish I didn't have to dig out the Dreamcast to play it, as them loading times are horrendous! Hopefully the Wii U will have Saturn/Dreamcast on the Virtual Console.
Currently playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist

When I think of games I never get tired of, I think of games in which I can go look at my shelf, and if I'm not preoccupied with a new game I'm trying to get through, I pick one and be like "sure, why not?" and play it, no matter what.

Of course a good portion of these games may happen to be those that I've had since childhood and adolescence, but some have emerged from my more recent game collecting.

Super Metroid - plays as well now as it did back then, a classic to play.
Super Mario All Stars - I could list the other SMB games but I'll list this because....4 games in one, plus it saves (although my drunken idiocy fucked up my saves on it, d'oh).
Zelda II - yes I love playing this one, even though I just beat the game this year.
Tetris (NES) - got me into puzzle games. If I want to kill some time for some puzzle gaming, this one's near the top.
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 - One of the best and most playable Game Boy games ever.
Donkey Kong (GB) - a blast as well
Ninja Gaiden - love playing this, even though it likes to BEAT ME TO HELL near the end.
Castlevania - the original for the NES is still among my favorite NES games to play.
Mega Man X/X2 - great action games to play. I didn't play the NES Megamans but I grew up with the MMX games on the SNES. So awesome. 16 years later and I STILL WANT X3 without paying a car payment for it.
Mario Kart 64 - a favorite to pick up and play for more than one person.

There's more, but it's late, so I'll post more tomorrow (er, later today I guess).

I haven't played any of the games, but just from what I know about the show (which is extremely popular with little kids in Japan) I don't think they would be quite what you're looking for in a soccer (football) game. The show is like Captain Tsubasa on DBZ pills; or you might think Eyeshield whatever-the-hell-#. So I believe they just translated that into a video game series.

Worth a look, maybe? I know there's a crowd of Westerners who really like the games.

ROOOOLLING STAa-AAAaa-aAAa-ART!!!!
I didn't have Daytona USA before my 14th birthday, (August 2012, in case someone reads this years later), but I don't see myself tiring from it, same with Soul Calibur II and Vampire Savior.
Insert clever quote here.

Final Fantasy 7 and 8 are almost always on my mind when I think of playing games and both are extremely nostalgic for me. FF7, FF8, and Chrono Trigger are the standards that I measure all RPGs against.
