Im predicting the final season ending with walt dieing in a final stand against the DEA with that light machinegun you see in his trunk. I doubt with walts ego he will let the cancer be the end of him.

Probably they'll show Walt with the machine gun and then from his perspective (e.g, sees the DEA with guns trained on him). The screen then goes black for 20 seconds before showing the closing credits.

"“Breaking Bad”: White supremacist fable? "

Interesting read that floats the idea that some of Breaking Bad's success can be tied to longstanding racist tensions and the ways that they have historically been addressed in TV/film.
The white guy who enters a world supposedly beneath him where he doesn’t belong yet nonetheless triumphs over the inhabitants is older than talkies. TV Tropes calls it “Mighty Whitey,” and examples range from Tom Cruise as Samurai and Daniel Day Lewis as Mohican to the slightly less far-fetched Julia Stiles as ghetto-fabulous. But whether it’s a 3-D Marine playing alien in Avatar or Bruce Wayne slumming in a Bhutanese prison, the story is still good for a few hundred million bucks. The story changes a bit from telling to telling, but the meaning is consistent: a white person is (and by extension, white people are) best at everything.

I think at that point, he's lost the DEA on his tail and he's looking to expand or defend his territory. Possibly dealing with that crew he struck a deal with when Mike and Jesse got out.

Isn't Breaking Bad the opposite, though? The main idea seems to be highlighting how despicable it made for Walt being good at what he does. So being so good cuts both ways.

We never think that the Samurai Tom Cruise or the dude in Avatar are worthless. Quite the contrary.

lol i find that so laughable. everything has to be about race for some people.

Hey, Bill got a job.
OH WHAT WHITE BILL GOTTA GET A JOB? WHAT ABOUT THE BLACK MAN!?

Hey, Jeremy wrote that book and its gonna be published.
OH WHAT WHITE JEREMY BE A WRITER!? WHAT ABOUT US BLACK WRITERS.

Man, WWII was a huge event in human history. So many Jews were killed, and the world took a step closer to the brink of self destruction.
OH WHAT, WHITE SOLDIERS SAVED THE DAY!? WHAT ABOUT THE TUSKEEGEE AIRMEN!?

Good fucking christ, just drop it and live your life already.

The case could be cited for those other movies mentioned, but it's a stretch to tie it to breaking bad. And it's still a stretch to tie it to race. It's the typical story of the outsider coming in and being better at everyone else. Race has nothing to do with it. The only reason race is even in play in the mentioned examples, is because hollywood hires white guys to star in everything. Which is a different argument entirely.

But in breaking bad, race has barely played into anything. It's not like all the meth dealers were mexican. Mostly his competition has been white, save for the cartel, which was eliminated by Gus (who is not white).

Honestly, the idea of the show being about white guys being the best at everything is silly. Just to site one example, the late Gus STILL seems much better at this meth business than Walt is right now. He had things running like clockwork until the "white guy" came and messed everything up.

If I wanted to, I could make an argument about how Breaking Bad is about white people messing things up, but that argument would be every bit as ridiculous. I could also make a ridiculous argument about how Breaking Bad is about white people being bad family men (Walt), or thieves (Marie) or drug addicts (Jesse), or bad husbands (the way Hank treated Marie in season 4). You can spin this stuff any way you want and try to force the show through that lens. It says more about the person making the argument than the show itself. We see what we want to see. Some people see racism everywhere

To me, Breaking is just a show about one man's descent into corruption and how he got there. The fact that the guy in question is a white guy is just because Bryan Cranston is such a damn good actor and just was the best choice for the part.

The article might take it a bit far, but if there's one thing we've learned about symbolism and "deeper meaning" on the show, though, it is about the intentional use of colors. Do you really think a main character named "white" is just a coincidence or that it doesn't (in part) refer to his skin color?
