Long time reader, first time poster here. I've got a bit of a sad story.
At Goodwill today, I found an NES for $25. At first, I didn't care because $25 is too much for an NES. But then I took a look at it, and this thing was in
perfect condition. Not faded at all and not a scratch in sight. At first I thought it was a bootleg or something because it looked too good to be true. It came with a perfect zapper, 2 controllers and an rf unit. No power adapter.
So I buy it, and while driving home, I start to think about why this NES is the way it is. Then I realized that since it came with a zapper and 2 controllers, it must have been an Action Set, and since it was spotless, it's probably been sitting in it's box for years. I turn my car around, go back to goodwill and ask the manager if it possibly came in a box, and if they still have it. He says it did come in a box, but they
threw it away and the garbage truck already picked it up. My heart just sank.

But! Since I'm a collector (sorta) I'm going to get a really nice box for this NES to make it complete again, and to keep it in it's amazing condition. Though I have a question. I know there are 2 kinds of boxes for orange zapper Action Sets. There's the normal one, and a variant version. Is there any way to tell which box this came in just by looking at it? Serial numbers and such?
