Sega Saturn suddenly ONLY takes official 6-button controller
What are the odds of three (read that, THREE) 3D controllers as well as a Tototek PS2 -> Saturn converter all breaking at the same time?
Right now the only thing that works on my Saturn is the official model 2 6-button pad.
Could there be something wrong with my controller port? Any way to check? Getting seriously pissed off.

Sounds like it's your Saturn. Try cleaning the controller port. Try the 2nd player controller port if you haven't already. Try another Saturn, too.Genesis Knight wrote:What are the odds of three (read that, THREE) 3D controllers as well as a Tototek PS2 -> Saturn converter all breaking at the same time?

I know Dreamcast controller ports had issues where the fuse (?) would blow, but I have never heard of that kind of problem with Saturns.

I wonder if it is an issue with the analog mode. Does the 3D controller work if you switch it to digital mode before plugging in?

^ That still wouldn't explain why the Tototek stopped working around the same time.

Fuck, I hate it when they update the firmware.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Okay, just did some more testing and MY MIND IS BLOWN.
The 3D controllers work...if the Model 2 controller is plugged into the 2P port when you turn on the Saturn. The second you unplug the 2P controller, the 3D controller in the 1P port just dies, and any sort of connection/reconnection digital/analog mode doesn't work.
Only the D-Pad works at the CD player menu (either digital or analog mode), but both modes work in the game. Until you unplug the controllers, at least.
I wonder if the region free BIOS chip I installed is to blame.
Unfortunately I only have the one Saturn to test with...what sort of collector am I?

That Saturn is haunted. You need ta' cawl tha' Ghostbusta's.
Don't feel bad about only having one Saturn. I'm in the same boat after selling my model 1 JP system.

I'm thinking there's probably a short of some kind in the controller port board.

God, this is driving me nuts. Would anyone have a spare Model 2 64-pin controller port board?
