What Music Have You Been Listening To?

Post by racketboy »

I've been listening to...

The White Stripes
U2
Eisley
The Cranberries
Goo Goo Dolls
Andy Hunter

I've also been "trying out" Radiohead and Wilco.
Never really listened to them much in the past.
I haven't quite found what the big deal is about them yet.
The only albums I have to listen to ATM, is OK Computer and A Ghost Is Born

I have a real hard time keeping up with mainstream music. 80% of my collection is game music. But the most recent "normal" tunage I have been into is:

The Doors
Stone Temple Pilots
Queen
Vast
Muse
Daft Punk
Flesh Field
Skinny Puppy
Celldweller
Gorillaz

I've been listening to some power metal recently, and of course anticipating Weird Al's new album.

Dreamtale
The Aquabats!
They Might Be Giants
The Apples in Stereo
Queen
Weird Al

Oh gees, the list is LOOONG, but Adam Greem, the Aquabats, CutCopy, Tilly and the Wall, Pixies, Radiohead, Wilco, etc. Yeah, Radiohead and Wilco do sorta require an aquired taste, but OK Computer is a pretty good album to start off with.

Is it just because they are "different" and "experimental"?
What tracks are your favorite?

lately...

The Faint
RJD2
Postal Service
Fischer Spooner
Gorillaz
White Zombie (right now)
Fear Factory
Peter Gabriel
and Chemical Brothers

My style of music has strayed a bit away from my more normal Industrial tastes. If you'd asked me a year ago I would of said simply

Skinny Puppy and Front 242 and anything similar

I listen to alot of indie rock, but only bands I feel are credible and not just another group of guys who scream too often:

Modest Mouse
Animal Collective
Del the Funkee Homosapien
Arcade Fire
Ryan Adams
Wolf Parade
TV on the Radio

I've heard good things about Ryan Adams but have only listened to a little bit so far.
What do you recommend of his?
