Genesis Model 2 Help

One of my model 2 Genesis's has a problem. Whenever I try to play it, it doesn't play. The power light comes on, the screen turns black, and the sound flickers so it is trying to play. I can't hear any music or sound anything, it's just a black screen staring at me. I've tried...

-Multiple games, it isn't them
-Multiple AV wires and cable wires, it isn't them.
-Multiple power cords, it isn't them.
-Multiple TV's, it isn't them.
-Cleaning games, and all contacts I could think of.
-Cleaning the inside of the console itself.
-My other Genesis works fine with my setup and all the other wires.
-Re-soldering the bottom contacts where the power cord goes on the motherboard. This made it go to the black screen every time (it used to not power on at all), but it still won't play games.
-Testing the power with a multimeter. It is getting power, but it still won't play.

What else can I do? I really want to fix it but I have no idea what else to try. It's a VA 1 if that matters.

I'd look for a bad solder joint at the cart connector or just re-solder them, and check for hairline cracks in the main board.

I checked that, and nothing. I re-soldered them anyway and nothing. I re-soldered the joints under the av cord goes in. Nothing.

FWIW I have a model 2 that does the same thing and I've never been able to track down what's wrong with it either.

I suppose you could start checking individual traces, but at this point with the amount of time invested I'd probably just use it for parts and pick another up cheap. If one of the chips is bad it wouldn't be worth repairing anyway unless it has sentimental value to you.

I've never tried it but I do it some times with NES systems, but maybe it's worth soaking the game connector in some alcohol. Could be something or corrosion deep in there. Its worked on blinking nes systems and a clean game. Makes em work again.

On systems that are acting up, some times a few sprays of compressed air in the game slot gets it out of its bad mood.

I tried that already. I even took some sandpaper and lightly got down in there. Nothing works.

But thanks all for trying. I'm thinking Duke is right and it's probably some chip that would be near impossible to repair.

I doubt this is the issue, but on mine I had to slightly bend all the pins making them tighter. Before the carts fit very lose and freeze if touched when they worked. I got the black screen all to often until I bent the pins a little. Now it works every time and the carts fit snug.
