SOS is good stuff; but I love a good homemade serving of chicken and waffles.

Ugh.

Not the hamburgers I planned on making today for gametime.

Bought 3lb.s of ground beef from Harris Teeter yesterday. Opened the fridge for my breakfast V-8, and found the ground beef to already be brown. I hope they offer a 200% money back guarantee.

Two Johnsonville pizza flavored "bratwursts," on fresh store-brand hot dog buns with a side of boiled pierogies. Those are a Polish pasta, essentially a ravioli filled with mashed potatoes instead of cheese. Very tasty cooked any way, but fried in lard is best.

You're missing out and not exactly correct. Most Polish Pierogies are made with a Polish Farmers cheese, not potatoes, although you can stuff a pierogies with anything and call it a pierogie.

I prefer the cheese pierogie, boiled, and then sauted in a stick of butter. I also prefer them to be the size of Andre the Giant's fist, with plenty of butter on the side.

I'd eat them every week but I have two caveats. One, making them is a mess. Two, can't find a decent farmer's cheese.

Tonight it's football food. Burgers, smoked sausage, grilled veggies, baked beans, roasted mac and cheese, broiled....I'm actually not broiling anything. Makes my over stink.

Here in mid MO, there are exactly two brands of pierogi sold, and both are like what I described. This is not a good area if you're looking for authentic European food. American country food is our strong point (BBQ, pork tenderloin sandwiches, catfish, grape pie, ooey-gooey butter cake, etc.)

You might fold like an envelope in delight if you had an authentic pierogi. I grew up in North West (not the school mind you) area of Chicago off of Milwaukee blvd. The joke is that there are more Polish people in that area than there are in Poland (the Polish parade goes right past my old house).

Most of the people in shops know very little English, to this day, but the food is amazing. The Polish deli's, the Polish bakery's, and the Polish restaurants are all pretty amazing.

I have pics around somewhere of me making traditional pierogi's somewhere, but in size they are about half the size of a pot pie. Pockets full of cheese, a little onion, and that is about it. But man are they delicious.

Boiled beans with fusili (I had some pasta left) yesterday and today beans with rice.
I think it was the first time I actually had beans with pasta. With rice is a classic dish in Portugal and Brasil.

My grandma on my dad's side of the family was born in Poland and lived there until she was a young adult so you'd think I'd know these things, but she was so impressed with American convenience food that she didn't bother making stuff like that. Mashed potatoes from a box was good enough for her.
