Rev 0: The best in terms build qualiy and rather uncommon model
Rev 1: The most common version of the console out there. Pretty reliable given the owners TLC
Rev 2: Final revision of the console, common but not as abundant and the rev1 unit. The internals are the most radical of all revisions and its build quality is of a... dubious reputation. Proceed with caution
Are the revs listed on the label? Or?
Yeah. Bottom right of the label, in a circle next to the region identification.

Have you guys bought any of the latest sega stuff from Insert Coin Clothing http://www.insertcoinclothing.com/? If so, any word on their actual quality?
I for one love the Hazuki Tiger Hoodie (http://www.insertcoinclothing.com/hoodi ... tiger.html) and the Beat Tokyo-to Tee (http://www.insertcoinclothing.com/guys- ... yo-to.html)

The hoodie is a little on the high side, though $35 for a t-shirt is way too much.

I only got my first Dreamcast last year, after many years of threatening. Sadly, there store I bought it from sold it borked. It refused to acknowledge first-party hardware, so I had to return to the store, and oddly, it took a 3rd-party Madcatz controller just fine. Then, bringing it home a second time, after trawling half the city on the return, I discovered the DC had a woeful case of Random Reset Syndrome. At this point, I was deflated.

Eventually, I just said "fuck it", and learned to correct the problem myself, wiping off and realigning the pins. It's been running well enough since, with the odd splutter. It still won't take 1st party add-ons, from the two official pads I've tested. VMUs work fine, mind. The system-battery's dead and I had my 3rd-party memory card erased its contents randomly last week, but I keep it and love it, 'cause we've been through a lot together.

I just got into Dreamcast this summer. Always a console I wanted to play ever since I played it back in 2000 at my cousin's. Got one for $20 at a cool local shop. The first one I got had random reset down syndrome, so I returned it and got another one. It was pretty dirty so I had my doubts, but after I got it home and cleaned it up it turned out to be a gem. An August 99 launch unit. The owner either gave it some good TLC, or just never used it judging by what the internals look like. The original system battery is still alive, there was almost no dust it all on the fan blades or inside the unit, and it works absolutely flawlessly. I've been going around collecting titles for it, and as of 2012, some games are really difficult to find locally. I searched the city for Skies of Arcadia but came up empty, so I had to get it online. Prices on games are also way up. I'm up to 16 games total, with what I would say is around a $100 investment overall (excluding SoA, that mofo was $30 by itself -.-). And yes, I also got Shenmue.

Just need some time to sit down and play all this stuff. The only game I've really had time to get into was Demolition Racer.

I bought my fourth Dreamcast the other week. Seems crazy, but oh well, I freaking love this console. I now own around 80 games, a million controllers, loads of memory cards and keyboards, mice and microphones. My first broke about 3 years ago, so I bought two more to replace it. Now I just about another one, this time modded to be region free.

I bought my first Dreamcast back in the year 2000. I initially wanted to buy one around the launch time, but I was completely undecided on whether to wait for the PS3 or not. So I saved my money (keeping in mind I was like 11 or 12 at the time) and waited and waited, until I realised that I was being blown away by the look of the games. Games like Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi looked incredible. PS2 on the other hand just just wasn't wowing me in the games department. So before the PS2 even came, despite advice from my parents that the Dreamcast was doomed and that the PS2 would be more successful, I made the decision to buy a Dreamcast. Honestly, my parents might have rolled their eyes when they announced the discontinuation 7 or 8 months later, but they soon realised that I was right. I mean I'm still playing it 12 years later and still loving the damn thing.

Sounds like you did the right thing by buying the Dreamcast. You would have been waiting quite a few years for the PS3 to come out.

Lol meant PS2. It's because I play my PS3 way more at this moment, so I just typed it without thinking.

Did eventually buy a PS2 last year though :P

PS2 is amazing. I remember being wowed by Gran Turismo and GTA 3. Just had to have one after playing GTA 3 on my parent's PS2. They ended up getting me one that christmas.
