The CW Plans "Wonder Woman" Series

The CW, which last year passed on David E. Kelley's proposed television revival of Wonder Woman because of its price tag, is reportedly planning its own take of DC Comics' iconic superheroine.

According to Vulture, the project is being written by Allan Heinberg, whose television credits include "Sex and the City," "The O.C." and "Grey's Anatomy." However, he's probably better known to comics fans as the co-creator of Marvel's "Young Avengers" who helped to relaunch DC's "Wonder Woman" in 2006.

Called simply "Amazon," the series would be an origin story focusing on Wonder Woman as a young superhero. "Think 'Smallville,'" the website writes, "but instead of a 'no tights, no flights' rule, this show might have a 'no bracelets, no crown' mandate." The Warner Bros. Television project is only in the script stage; no pilot has been greenlit.

News of "Amazon" comes more than a year after NBC rejected Kelley's "Wonder Woman" pilot, which starred Adrianne Palicki as a successful corporate executive who fights crime in Los Angeles while trying to balance the elements of her extraordinary life. Announced in October 2010, the revival seemed shaky almost from the start, with Kelley revealing two months later that he hadn’t “necessarily committed” to the project. However, when he did commit, Warner Bros. encountered difficulty finding a home for the pilot, with all the broadcast networks initially passing on "Wonder Woman" before NBC changed course in late January. That was followed by negative reaction to a leaked draft of the script and then the first look at Palicki in a costume.

The CW, a joint venture of DC Comics parent company Warner Bros. and CBS Corporation, was the longtime home of "Smallville," which ended its 10-season run last year. The network will debut "Arrow," based on DC's Green Arrow, Oct. 10.
Sex and the City and Grey's Anatomy? Ewwwww

Oh well, maybe it'll turn out good. Why the hell is everyone so afraid to do a Batman TV show? C'mon. Wonder Woman and Green Arrow are second stringers compared to the goddamn Batman.

Maybe they're afraid of screwing it up and damaging the brand?

Now that Nolan's trilogy is over they might be more open to the idea, if that was the case.

They should just leave Wonder Woman be.

At least we have The Arrow. Hopefully that will come out good.

I'll admit the first few issues were pretty meh. But the latter half of the series has had me hooked and had me eagerly awaiting the next issue.

Spoiler:
I thought the death of Xavier was handled well. It seemed emotional since Scott was basically like his oldest son. As for it having a lasting meaning or not...probably not. This is Marvel Comics we're talking about here. I mean, DC is just as guilty at times, but it's not nearly as often since they have legacy characters often take over the role. Only Uncle Ben stays dead in the Marvel Universe (you used to be able to say Uncle Ben and Bucky, so who knows, maybe Uncle Ben will come back one day).
I was hoping Magneto had a little more up his sleeve. That was the biggest disappointment this last issue, for me. In issue #10 it seemed as if White Queen pissed off the wrong mutant and I was waiting to see what Magneto was gonna unleash.

I'm still wondering: Where the hell is Cable? It's been far too long for the recovering excuse, and his body should be able to heal him at a phenomenal rate since it's no longer busy fighting the Phalanx Virus.

I thought it was meant that he was under lock and key during his recovery.

I would have to disagree with your spoiler comment. It felt cheap to me, and for that character makes very little sense.

Its also hard to stomach this event since my favorite x-man has been drug through the mud the whole time.

Rob Liefield Blatantly Swipes George Perez's Artwork in Deadpool #0

Wow, just wow. The only way this isn't a blatant swipe is if DC told him to do this:

Thoughts?
