Together Retro: Super Mario Bros 2 / Doki Doki Panic
Re: Together Retro: Super Mario Bros 2 / Doki Doki Panic
Just watch for the cherries and keep the rhythm in your head. You should be able to get two cherries with just a little practice. The third cherry is much more difficult.

Completed!

Interesting balance there, 6-6-4-4.
Also got all the coins, and there is some sort of "Yoshi Challenge?"
That means I gotta go through the game again.
Well then, starting next week --

I don't even bother with the cherries; I go for the 7's since you get a 10-Up for matching 'em. I can usually do this on an average of 1 out of 5 coins, so it works out. I ended the game with 62 lives.Zing wrote:Just watch for the cherries and keep the rhythm in your head. You should be able to get two cherries with just a little practice. I've been playing through this on NES this week. I beat the game on GBA when it came out, but have never finished the NES version so I figure now is a better time than ever to do so. It is proving to be a lot more difficult than I expected. The farthest I've gotten was 5-2 or 5-3.

that must be why I had so many extra lives on GBA!sonic2041 wrote: Cherries are the best you can get in the NES version.

I was just thinking, "sevens?"
There isn't much difference. I get at least two cherries each time if I try.

Played worlds 4 and 5 tonight. Not sure if it's because I haven't played SMB2 in a while, but I had a tough go at it. Doing bad in areas where I do pretty well at usually. I lost a life in a Sub-Con area!

Hmm. It's been so long since I've played the original, I forgot they were added for All-Stars.

Finished up the All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 2 this morning. Had a few more difficulties, including losing to Wart two times, which rarely happens to me. Contributors were Princess (9), Toad (6), and Mario (5).
Wondering if I should play again with the NES or GBA version.
