Re: The Wrestling Thread
^ I have every commercial release PPV DVD (except for a handful from 2002 that are extremely rare and expensive) and then have a copy of the Silvervision DVD for any shows that were pre-DVD that they released. All told - if the WWF/E did a show on PPV I have it with an official printed out cover and case (people took the VHS covers and made custom DVD cases).
I also have almost every non-PPV DVD release including every 2 and 3 disc compilation. Also have every WCW PPV from '96 through '01 and a bunch of Ring of Honor and then some custom DVD sets from a guy that used to be on iOffer.
Fun hobby.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I have acquired a lot of wrestling DVDs, but not as much as retrosportsgamer, from the sounds of it.Razzmatazz wrote:On a different topic, sort of, does anyone collect WWE dvds? I've noticed they are getting cheaper with a lot of places having sales. My ultimate aim is to collect every PPV and for about £500 I could probably do it. I've been watching 2005 PPVs in order and Judgment Day's feud between Booker T and Kurt Angle is absolutely hilarious. Does anyone remember it? Where Kurt accidentally mentioned bestiality is what he wants to do to Sharmell. Man I miss Kurt in WWE...
I collect more of collection DVDs, history, and biography ones than I do individual PPV DVDs (although I have a small handful of them).
Some of the ones I have:
History of the WWE Championship, History of the World Heavyweight Championship, History of the Intercontinental Championship, The Best of Raw 15th Anniversary, The Best of Saturday Night's Main-Event, The Very Best of WCW Nitro, The Rise and Fall of WCW, The Monday Night Wars, The Essential Starrcade Collection,The Best of Hell in a Cell, The Greatest Stars of the 90s, Wrestlemania 2000, Wrestlemania 21, TNA 50 Greatest Moments, WCW The Best of Slamboree, n.W.o: Back In Black, The Rock Says, The Immortal Hulk Hogan, Austin vs. McMahon

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Wow, I take my hat off to you sir! May I ask how long it took you to collect them, and whether you sought our used copies also? I did have a lot of the Attitude Era DVDs in the Tagged Classics range but I had to sell them due to moving into a flat with my girlfriend. And Attitude Era stuff still holds it's value! The problem I have is I'm a hoarder, and am tied between collecting CDs, collecting comics, collecting WWE DVDs and collecting old videogame magazines. I've finally given up on collecting games as I have a 6 month baby, and it's a lot easier to watch or read something than it is to spend an hour or so playing a game.retrosportsgamer wrote:^ I have every commercial release PPV DVD (except for a handful from 2002 that are extremely rare and expensive) and then have a copy of the Silvervision DVD for any shows that were pre-DVD that they released. With regards to WCW, I emailed Silvervision here in the UK about whether they would release WCW events in Tagged Classics like they do with the old WWE events, but they said they have no plans to.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
^ Sure, it's a cool discussion imo. I started really collecting in 2009. I had picked up a couple of titles back in 2005 (the first HBK "From the Vault" two-disc set is still my favorite to this day) but then fell out of wrestling for a couple of years. Jumped back into following wrestling at the end of 2008.
I restarted my collecting with a couple of discounted sets at FYE and started looking at places like K-Mart and Wal-mart. I have a good number of used DVDs - poaching inexpensive eBay auctions or grabbing some off Amazon for pennies (+ shipping though, I only did this in the beginning when I was new to collecting). I still think a $20 3-disc set with 9 hours of matches is still he best bang for your buck out there entertainment-wise.
So did a lot of eBay, and then stumbled onto the cool offerings at iOffer. To my knowledge, the sellers are gone now but they would have 6-disc custom sets with cool new artwork and cover complete feuds or someone's entire career. I also found a seller with original Silvervision DVDs of old WWF shows. Even though the "F" went away in the states, it did not internationally and they continue to sell PPV dvds from shows from '96 , '98 etc today. So I wanted copies of those, and then I bought DVD cases and printed out artwork and made my own.
Since they were never commercially released by the WWF/E as DVDs, I opted for their good DVD copies over dubbing a VHS tape. For many of the early shows (95-97) I have both a copy of the VHS or PPV dub to DVD and the Silvervision version (which has menus). You do need a region free DVD player to watch those (they are technically PAL) but I had one as all of Phillips (I think, I'll check the brand) are region free machines.
My newest venture is grabbing Blu-Ray releases that were only in the UK (Summerslam 2011 was a big one) as they have extra features and of course the bump in quality. If it's released in Blu-Ray in the US, I'm back-collecting slowly (but there are great deals to find).
One of the other cool things I have (which is now almost moot with the Clash set) is a complete set of VHS dubs to DVD of every Clash of the Champions. The whole set has artwork and everything. As I noted, I also have every WCW ppv (but in a group set - so art on the spine - not individual DVD cases and covers for each) from '96 through the end.
I also have a decent amount of TNA DVDs - imo the Kurt Angle set is the best out there - and enjoy the ROH compilations (like Summer of Punk - a must have, and Punk vs. Joe - with shoot video after). I generally pay full price for those to support ROH.

I'll also reiterate, it is a damn shame TNA does not have a DVD distributor any longer. They finally put out great PPVs in 2012 and they aren't documented anywhere (outside of boots from PPV copies).

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Great stuff! So the Silvervision you got from the UK, was that all untouched WWF material, as I know the Tagged Classics range here are released without the logo blurring and censoring of WWF, which to be honest is pretty awesome. I've scoured British sites such as CEX for second hand stuff and deals like this are pretty common http://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=5021123111225. Silvervision themselves seem to have a constant sale on and as you say, 3 discs of entertainment for just £4.99 > http://www.silvervision.co.uk/products/ ... Discs.html
Damn, making me want to buy whole bunches of these!

Re: The Wrestling Thread
^ Yep, all the Silversion WWF stuff is untouched and seems like the production feed (no dubs - it is high quality). The tagged classics are awesome - if it wasn't so expensive to ship, i'd look more at them. I jogged my memory - they don't ship outside Europe. So, yeah.
I have a bunch of those Wrestlefest and US Rampage shows that they sell too (copies though).
I could pretty much look through this all day:

Re: The Wrestling Thread
And here's the best one. On page 3:
Judgment Day 2000 & Fully Loaded 2000 DVD (2 Discs)
I don't know what 11.99 in pounds translates too - they run sales often I believe.
Those two shows are two of the best from that loaded year. I have the Silvervision copies as well as the original VHS tapes (in near mint shape).

But do you have Stranglemania? It features Lamanamanumi, Drunk Terry Flunk, Cactus Sac, and the Mushroom Brothers.retrosportsgamer wrote:^ I have every commercial release PPV DVD (except for a handful from 2002 that are extremely rare and expensive) and then have a copy of the Silvervision DVD for any shows that were pre-DVD that they released. Re: The Wrestling Thread
Reading your posts makes me wonder what kind of content will be on the WWE Network. I've always wanted to watch lots of wrestling DVDS, but time and money is an issue. Particularly with my other hobbies competing for those limited resources. It'd be great if they had old pay per views and stuff on the WWE Network though.
