Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Headphones or Speakers?

Post by racketboy »

Which do you prefer most of the time.

I use headphones a lot:
iPod during walking at lunch (downtown) and evenings (I live by a park)
At work
and right now my in-laws are living with me (for one more week)

But I do love my speakers.

i must pick speakers..but unfortunetly i dont get many chances to turn the volume up as much as i like wich is really a shame since i got a good set of speakers and a powerful amplifier
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0009068684 (it kinda looks like that one only diffrence is the volume, bass and treble buttons)

so headphones are useful but they can never beat a good set of speakers.

I only have an old but powerful analog Marantz reciever. I tend to use speakers all day, but at night I use some fairly decent headphones I got online, and plug them directly into the soundcard. That way it gets a cleaner signal than the speakers get.

I love the sound of headphones... like the noise is right inside of your head.

But I actually rarely use them. I drive everywhere (South Florida isn't much of a walking state) or I'm in areas I shouldn't be listening to them (school). Hence why I don't own an ipod.

At home, work and in my car I use speakers. BIG LOUD speakers. Not these lil' ones, but like home theatre size ones. My supervisor at work says she thinks I may be deaf... well I think that's what she said; she forgets I need to see her lips to understand what she says.

At home I use speakers, but when i'm playing my handhelds I use a headset. Usually when i'm playing an RPG on my handheld, it seems I can play forever. haha time passes by quicky.

Depends. As a rule I use headphones because it's simply better quality. At home I use my stereo system because of all the cash I dumped into my subwoofer.

Not to start some flame war... but I'd just like to know why headphones are better quality in your opinion? As I feel speakers are better quality.

All speakers are better than all headphones?

Sorry. Phrased that wrong. My individual pair of headphones are better then most speaker system I come across.

My Sennheiser headphones are usually praised for their bass, but there's no way they can top the bass of my speakers -- headphones can't make you feel bass throughout your body :D

But sometimes headphones are better for small details since there isn't much interferance.
