What is the best Mario Party game?

Post by BlackDS »

I would have to go with number 3, the minigame system was more streamlined that the first two, it had the best item system of any mario party game, it has a more unique visual style, and every minigame was fun to play.

The only thing I disliked about it was the battle maps in story mode, but who play's story mode anyway?

I had a lot of fun with Mario Party 4. It didn't seem to be as crazy with the handing out random stars at the end as the later games.

I have all of the MP but only played 6,7,8, & 9.

Which of the N64 MP was known as the joystick breaker? That is, you have to spin the stick around and around for some of the mini-games?

I couldn't stand 8. I liked 7 a lot except the mic games would sometimes be frustrating.

That's the first one.

I was one of the people who ended up with palm blisters...

I remember liking 2 an awful lot, don't think I played much of the other ones.

So they didn't have those type of games in MP2 & MP3? That's one of the reason why I haven't tried the games on my N64. Were there a bunch of those type of games or just a couple?

There were several in MP1. There were absolutely none in 2 and 3.

I never understood the palm thing. We played a lot of Mario Party, the first two games, and none of us ever used our palm.

Nintendo got sued because kids hurt themselves playing the control stick spinning minigames in MP1, there has been zero stick spinning minigames since.

I've only played the first 5 mario parties :P , you really should give 5 a shot, its probably my second favorite after 3. I could understand your frustration with 7, I've played hey you pikachu.

What do you mean? The early games gave out stars for Most Coins at a time, Most coins won in minigames and Most happening spaces landed on. Random bonus stars are kind of a large element of mario party, and always has.

I totally understand Mario Party Advance and Mario Party - e not appearing as options, but the DS one was a pretty good entry in the series, so I'm surprised to see that didn't make the list.

Either way, I couldn't decide on this. 2 and 3 on N64 are pretty great, but I aslo quite like 5 for Gamecube. I haven't played much from 6 onwards though, so I can't really offer an opinion on the whole series.
